Hi,

Got my exeo yesterday, but I suspect it hasn't got the solar roof. From the pics in the brochure, it shows the cells in the glass, but my glass is clear. Then I figured the cells might be in the sunshade, but I tilted the roof and couldn't see any there.

Does anyone have this option and if so, can you explain where I should see the cells to confirm.

Hi,

Yeah, I found that picture - and I did order it (£980), but I seem to have got the clear one.

I'll take it to the dealer to confirm it';s not been fitted.

I wonder if it's something the dealer can sort or whether it's a factory only option.

Just an update,

I went to the local dealer in Reading who were pretty useless and didn't seem to want to help much.

They said they hadn't ever seen the solar roof so they wouldn't be able to identify if mine had it or not.

From the images and description though, it looks like the solar panels are embedded in the glass, so mine defo hasn't got them.

Over to Lex then!

I wonder where the mix up occurred? Whether it was the dealer placing the order, the factory building the car or the dealer allocating the cars to customers when they arrived? I'm worried because I've ordered laminated side windows as an option but I'm not sure how I'm going to check I've actually got them fitted (without bashing them with a hammer).

I would hope it's just a one off, but on the order confirmation from Lex, it was listed as an option. I'm not sure where the mix up occured, but I suspect Lex, although I would imagine it's not a popular option, so it could be a factory mistake.

I built up the spec etc on the SEAT configurator website and sent the link across to them - but the confirmation came back wrong. They listed a Sport rather than the Sport Tech.

Unfortunately for me, I didn't spot it, as I was focussing on the options list, rather than the car description - so when it arrived it was missing the sat nav and leather - so I'm a bit annoyed that I missed the detail - unfortunately it was signed and sent over.

The Solar roof was definitely listed as an option - so I'm "hoping" that it's a factory only option and therefore they will need to rebuild .... and this time I'll make sure it's the 'tech'

As you say, it's easier to spot solar panels missing from the glass than laminated windows. I'm really not sure how you will be able to tell.

I'm hoping the standard windows are marked with "tempered" or "solid", and therefore, the laminated ones won't be. I'm also hoping that if I look at the edge I'll be able to see a line where the two sheets of glass are sandwiching the plastic film.

Good luck with getting yours sorted out.

I just had a thought ... what does it say on the build sticker (in your boot, by the spare wheel I think). It should have the code nos listed there for everything including the options.

I'll take a look. Do you know what the codes mean?

The sticker is in the boot near the spare wheel, but I have the same sticker on the inside cover of the service book.

There are probably 30 codes though - I guess only SEAT will know what they mean.

not got the list that up to date here but if you wanna pm me your reg number i can print off the full pr-code list from work if it helps ?

Got ya message with your details last night, thanks for that as it's so much easier to check with the exact info, right where do i start ? :)

first off a full list of PR spec codes for your car si we can see the menu Seat made it from, but note the 3FE code for later

As the above list in reality means bugger all as it is I've printed off the full list of the specs so I/we can see what to check and other's can scan through for other stuff if needed

Again 3FE is listed lower down (pg3) = Electric slide/tilt sunroof with sun screen/sunblind

Couldn't say either way in the beginning what is supposed to be fitted and is so using Etos parts system filters i can check the exact parts as required for that particular vehicle.

As you can see below it lists the same spec as the codes matching (3FE) and describes the roof exactly as i would expect.

But this was printed via the filter so it narrows it down through the filter to keep a list short and printing optimum etc etc so i have also added a screenshot of the actual page as it reveals something interesting

As you can see the 3FE code shown as expected but in the grayed out area there is 2 options listing 3FR - for 'solar' sliding roof :( Damn !!!

According to the parts system your Car is listed as being specced for a standard sunroof 'NOT' a solar type one :(

Now before you blow up a dealers and declare war on Seat of bear in mind this is all info as listed by Seat and can be wrong (rarely i'll confess though) but it would be worthwhile comparing the codes actually on your car's sticker and as a double check with another owner that does have the option.

Computer's and robot's can be fallible as much as humans sadly.

Hopefully it's merely an admin error somewhere along the line but equally if not i hope the info helps your cause.

Exactly - I can tell you the codes that it isn't .... if that helps - because I covered all the ones on the sticker from the manual.

I checked all these - on the website I posted above but no mention of a sunroof at all :-

I'll have to PM you tomorrow - as I've been onto Lex, and they offered to re-order the car from scratch - which means waiting again, but it may as well be right.

I have been told not to rackup any extra miles while they decide what to do with it, so I'm back in the company Ibiza! Hopefully they'll let me use the Exeo it while I wait for the replacement.

:)

Wow!

Thanks for all your efforts on this. I will need this to prove it's not installed and to ease my mind a bit - I thought I was going crazy for a while there. Would a dealer generally get involved in installing a solar roof, or is it factory only?

I'm pretty sure the incorrect roof was ordered by Lex, rather than any error on SEAT's part. I originally ordered the Sport TECH as I mentioned, but a standard Sport turned up.

Lex missing the solar roof was my saving grace - although today Lex did acknowledge the 'Tech' error after asking them to double check the original configurator link I sent them in Jan. With the roof error and the tech error, they have offered me a chance to re-order.

So ..... I go straight to the back of the queue and stand patiently again ! :)

It's a 3 year lease, so I'd rather get things right.

Thanks again so much for your help! Good to have a man on the inside :)
