How much is Sachs eck? I'd love to stretch the budget for an upgraded jobbie but I just don't think it's doable mate :( at the moment the standard spec is out of my price range lol

5/600 dude for Sachs uprated, your standard DMF is hopefully fine :)

Sounds like terrible timing for the clutch to go mate. In the end its what you can afford, bad luck you don't have that extra stretch for an uprated clutch.

I was hoping to do some kind of review on stock versus Revo by now but what with the poor weather and the clutch slip I have at the moment it's quite hard to give an honest appraisal on things like throttle response and any feeling of possible extra zip.

Unfortunately it's looking like the next step will be a replacement clutch which I hadn't budgeted for :(

So I'll be looking for a local VAG specialist to get some idea of pricing then comparing that to what the Seat dealer cost is before making my decision on who I get to do the job.

I highly recommend you give Andy from Autotechnica a ring 01482 353369 (based in Hull) he's done all my mods including stage 3 full engine rebuild. We start the AWD conversion on Friday when we cut the boot floor out, they're already rebuilding the S3 rear axle for me. Their pricing will put any dealership to shame and will provide a great service to you, good bunch of guys.

Clutch could be done within a day (just about!) We installed a Loba stage 2 clutch on mine and single mass flywheel, price was reasonable and is not too heavy, it really lightens up after a week of driving, not much worse than a standard clutch but good for 500bhp.

Thanks G, I fear that's too rich though, when I factor in fitting it'll be £1k+ surely?

Yeah it's really dropped at a bad time, I mean I can get by as it's not until you bury the throttle from 4th,5th and 6th that you really notice it, but obviously it's showing signs that it needs replacing so my hand is being forced somewhat. Normal driving back and forth to work is fine, it's just every now and then when I want the power and I can't have it lol

Thanks for the info fella, do you know how much the fitting cost was for your clutch? Just trying to get an idea how much the fitting will likely be then I can understand how much I need. PM if you don't fancy discussing cost on here.

From what I understand a stock replacement is around the £150 mark so I know how much the clutch is it's more a case of finding a guy who knows his stuff but doesn't want the earth to fit the hardware.

Do you know any mates that's good like that and would do it as a homer???

Could possibly rally some troops but then it's a case of getting a nice day, with the weather like it is at the moment I might not get any takers lol.

Fancy a road trip mate ;)

This is perfectly normal weather for the Scots, so I am pretty sure he wouldn't mind hahah

Can you not get a 0% credit card or something mate?

I would hate to have to shell out for another standard clutch when an uprated one is needed/wanted.

Slippery slope 0% credit cards lol

It's not something I would like to do to be honest but if I'm pushed then it may be a get out option.

Not really, just depends how careful you are with your money

I bought my last bike on a 0% credit card because I was impatient. Paid it off 6 months before the 0% was due to run out.

If i can say to myself that I can afford to put £250 away per month saving towards something, then I don't have a problem getting it on 0%

EDIT: I am not the sort of person that has multiple 0% credit cards lol, i just get one to finance something that I want to buy, i don't use it regularly.

I have an overdraft. I just got paid and had my birthday, still in it! But I agree, if you want an uprated clutch try and get it straight off rather than a standard one then upgrading!

I'm assuming the release bearing is small cost compared to the clutch?

Hi pal

The clutch was done at the same time as Revo stage 3 so couldn't really advise either way I'm afraid, won't hurt to give Andy a call though. If you mention me (oliver) i'm sure he'll be able to help.

Is there any way to tell what state the fly is in? Would I be safe in assuming it's ok?

Cheers dude, I will give him a call and see what he says.

If nothing else it will give me a price to work with.

In neutral mate put your foot on the clutch and apply a little pressure , if you feel it knocking its gone also if when driving you feel vibration through your clutch pedal it's gone. If when taking the clutch off check the movement of the dmf. Anymore than 3 teeth movement either way and its on its way out

Cheers dude, I'll have a try at that, I think it's fine to be honest but worth a check.
