Thought I would put small update... Nothing great, I dont get alot of free time anymore but got some done tonight, will finish taking engine out this week sometime to get work done on block ready for the rebuild...

Opened the bonnet.... yep its still there

Bought some new wheels Wanted these for years....

Brake clearance is better then the MO's

Where I finished today, Need to bring engine craine home to get anymore done...

Kinda forgot I enjoyed working on him, was good. time to get motivated for 2013 now

Got more done on Monty, First off get the bottom end out..

Stripped down...

Early crank which I forgot I fitted...

Shame to say good bye but onwards and upwards

To comfirm the changes to the bottom end are:

Over bore to 87mm
Omega Pistons
Arrow Rods
Decked block
Balanced Front pulley, crank, flywheel and clutch cover

Work carried out on head is:

Piper Cams blanks (can't remember what ones )
Solid lifters with shims deep locating
Double springs steel retainers
Stem seal to suit double springach
Spring platform
Calisbro valve guides
Nimonic 80 exhaust valves
Stainless waisted stem inlet
Port bore inlet and exhaust ports
Fettle cylinder head blend ports open out throat area
Skim head

"Should" be safer at current power...

During the head removal I noticed the cometic had been blowing slightly between cylinders It never had any running issues, on the first build the block was decked and head skimmed... I wont be using another cometic tho.... I'm not the first to suffer from this but i guess it was due to lack off the block being decked but apprently not!

On Sunday I dropped block off to have its bore enlargered to 87mm, decked, Head worked like above etc...

Who said you can't put engines in corsa's...

Little update on parts, Arrow rods are here with ARP 2000 bolts

How did you find them murray clamps? You reckon there better than tbolt mikilar clamps?

Yer he is getting there blocks been had bore done to 87mm, decked...

Head work currently being done

Murray clamps are loads better, highly advise them

Sfs gave me 2 to try. Seem really good think ill swop all mine for the murray clamps

not sure wheel wise yet as i have 2 other sets but have only ever used early MO5's on him

They will be properly refurbed as always but not sure on colour yet...

I have a set of A048r's for one set

R888's for another set

Parada Spec 2 on current ones....

I want to get some slicks for drag too so I might buy another set wheels....

Little update not alot to report apart from he is great fun to drive

Went for one of our evening country drives took over Shell so I thought it be rude not to take a picture...

nothing wrong with loving your car ive loved all of my cars until i got the mk1 leon pd150 which i just find so boring i think if i owned that corsa id love it too and thats a big thing for me to say as ive never really been a vauxhall fan but that looks pretty special.

My mates just spend £22000 on a 'burg' corsa, I'm not really a Vauxhall fan, but this one is lovely! Bilstein suspension, brembo! Seats are banging in it too. He's in Afghan at the moment, and will come back with a wedge, so I think he is getting a custom cat back and a DV. Out of curiosity, how much are those splitters?

Yer I was going to get a Nurb but the R alot alot better spec, faster and rarer which sold it for me, there are alot of nurb's about now.... They do come with alot but should have more power IMO.. There are a few systems out for them already....

The splitters used to be £30 but vauxhall caught on and jumped it up to £185 + vat, guy sells them for £180 on ebay, I can get them cheaper but not alot....

It's more of a "dealer edition" the car is made by thorney Vauxhall, they own a dealer and tune vauxhalls and have thorney centres over the country in other dealers! They make Astra VXR-S, VXR-R, Corsa VXR-S and VXR-R. There was 11 astra VXR-R made.... Sure there is more than 500 nurbs... I may be wrong but it's alot more than the R and IMO the R is better, still keeps Vauxhall warranty! Yep I used to get cupra r splitters for £15.....

Well, 7 is still a massive difference compared to 500! Just being nosey again, but how much are the VXR R Corsa's when they're new? Not to sound rude, but I thought £22000 mas massively over priced for a Corsa, IMO there are still cheap things in the interior, but still those seats!

This current one was £25,000ish new, it has couple options ticked when ordered.. Bluetooth, auto lights, auto wipers, auto dim interior mirror and cruise control... That's the Vauxhall options! It's has all the R extras but 1 extra option which was the race suspension which is bilstein coilovers B12 kit which was an extra £1,000! Normall come with B10 same as Nurb Corsa!

Surprised me he paid £22,000 does it have nav and full leather? Normally you can get them for £19,000 not many have paid full asking price! I agree it's alot for a Corsa but I like it bought the R with only 1,900 miles from new so it was a no brainer to me...
