Hi after doing some research on here I thought i'd treat my car to a new set of Spark plugs so thought i'd go with the NGK PFR6Q which most people reccomend and they come standard on the car? It's what I thought I had on the car aswell as I had the plugs changed last time, when the car was in the garage for other work.

However no...the garage had fitted some bosch twin pointed jobbys :( no idea what the lifespan of those were but had them in the car for about 35k ... no wonder i was getting crap performance and petrol consumption!

No I've got the NGK's in the car is instantly a lot smoother (can hardly tell the engine is running) and on the short blast I just had, it seems to be driving loads better!

My only question is...one of my coil packs looked brown in colour compared to the other ones which were silver:confused: it looked kinda burned...does this mean that it needs replacing?

if its running fine now with the new plugs then i would say the coil pack is fine. is it just brown and burnt lookin at the end that fits over the plug??? if so this is normal and nothing to worry about. if you look at the old plugs you may well see some discolouration at the base of the white bit. this is where oxygen burns around the top of the plug if it hasnt got an airtight seal with the top of the plug when the coil fires.. there is a special greese you can apply to aid the seal, cant remember the name off hand but i can find out tomorrow.

it appears to be ok at the end where the spark plug is....however further up near the top of the metal bit its like a light brown....after reading up about how the car drives when the coil pack has gone i think im ok.....as the car is still driving very smooth
