starting after filling with diesel

I wouldn't run a pd on veggie tbh, last couple of fuel filters have cost me approx £7~£8 each

Plenty of topics on here about vegoil, knackers the injectors and high pressure fuel pumps on the PD engines. Would be interesting to know whether you could get away with a little bit though? Although Ill never try it!

the same thing happens with (proper) biodiesel. Delayed start but it does fire up.
So may be your latest tankful had more biodiesel or was just poor quality?

One of the points a mechanic friend made with tehd esign of the pd engine maybe the others struggle starting can be attributed to a stretched cam belt/stretching cambelt.

When was yours last done?

Rather than snapping they stretch and difficulty starting is one of the warnings..

Just thought i'd share that.

Had the same problem for the last couple of weeks, car starts as normal, then after say a stop at the shop when turning the engine back on it wouldn't start. Left for a few minutes it would start with a lot of black smoke.
Friday it did the same again so took the sons car to work, when I got home at 1 o'clock I decided to take it to the garage, they plugged in the computer to which no error showed up. the guy said it most likely to be the fuel filter. So went and bought a new filter and fitted it and touch wood so far so good.
ps: how long should a fuel filter last ?

The filter has not solved the problem.
It has failed to start just the once in six days, but left for five or so mins it starts normally.
60000 mile service with cam belt & water pump replaced three months ago.
