Station Logo help

Higot myself a facelift Cupra Ateca. I’m struggling to install the station logos.

I have scanned all radio stations in DAB and some have logos already attached.

I have downloaded the zip file from the VW website for logos and saved the to a USB stick, when I use the “manage station logos” menu all it doesn’t give me any options to search the USB drive? I have used the file before from an SD card on a VW Golf and had no issues. There’s no SD card slot I can see on the Ateca.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

I'm only guessing as I don't have a FL car but try putting the logos on a USB drive that has at least one MP3 on. Then the option to look at that drive from the logo menu could be available?

Should say the conversation naughtily spilled over on another thread - part my fault. Syphon did invite me thou... oops.

Common issue not resolved on Spanish and German Ateca boards with the FL model which is a mib3. Guess if there isn't a hidden menu a new firmware release will be required. They don't allow you to read in user POIs direct from the unit so suspect in their software design they didn't plan for anything to be read into the unit apart from firmware updates and backend menu stuff. It's at firmware release 777 at the minute from what I've seen so suspect people will be looking for a later release to fix it if it's accepted that it's an issue.

Interesting also the Ateca Cupra's in the UK gets the same Mib3 model as the standard Ateca and Leon, zn1. Continent the top of the range zn2 is fitted to high end ones. Anyone swapping UK Ateca Cupra's to the FL car use to seeing the 3D buildings won't. Can try it by looking for Tower Bridge etc. The Roman cranes along the river in Trier (Use to like seeing them driving by the river both on the map and there:)). You shouldn't be able to get full link either solely via the WiFi connection which is only on the zn2. Zn2 has a couple of SD slots as well.

Thanks for the research @Tell it’s appreciated.

yeah all the BBC stations have images. However if I do go select the station logo menu option for a station with an image (R1) and then press on that image it disappears and hasn’t come back. There are no icons in the image (pen or bin etc)

I think you hit it on the head when you said the units are essentially locked down but they’ve forgot about importing station logos in.

Just going down this route just now with new Cupra Ateca FL. and wondering why the logos could not be added like I did on MY17 Leon. From what you are saying here we are basically stuffed unless there is an update??

That appears to be the case. User import of logos and POIs using the USB-C isn't something catered for. The manual alludes to logo import but cant be found on the menu, whilst POIs isn't mentioned and there isn't a POI import option or management screen for that.

It's the UK commercial stations where the logo isn't always transmitted or an incorrect one if it changes what it's broadcasting. BBC and RTE are fine. The latter spill across the Irish sea to here.

Post #9 feels like the Ambient lighting one of the Leon 4 where they try to change the default colour, get another colour and get stuck on that. Buggy. FL Atecas havent been struck by the same issues as Leon 4s it would appear apart from the same niggles on the Infotainment system.

I am sure I read a post that the issue was raised in Europe.
Found an update entry in one of the menus but not sure if any difference.

Well there is the dead end thread that I found when it came up before, still a dead end.

I found a similar German thread also at the time.

Lamentation on the Briskoda site but this one combines what the Briskoda site know:

Seems all Mib3s across the Vag brand are stuffed on the radio logo import, map import and user POI import via USB (assuming it beeps that way).

That isn't to say there isn't an import option by putting it into service mode that's yet to be found. Seems to me to be a failure in the technical authorship of the documents with what the system actually does, but that's not new to VAG. Putting menus in the manual that aren't present.

The radio logos are transmitted over the air, expect VAG would claim the issue is the stations aren't transmitting the correct ones or any at all, but then you don't expect to be able to delete it and not be able to reinstall it unless it's deleting the preset and reloading it. Pass on that dont have a mib3. What is missing from mib3 are the menus to manage the radio logos, POIs and map import via the front panel. You'd think they may be able to do something via connect services. That's how the POIs without beeps are managed.

On map updates VW and Skoda have always had these free of recent as VAG relented on Mapcare and abandoned it for the brands... they are not going to like it if they have got to pay.

There must be pressure on the VAG team as it looks like a disconnect in the programming side with the SD card removal and that is affecting a lot of customer across the brands.
There seems to be a lack of user friendly joined up info on the features on the new set up.

Ive just come from an Audi 8V S3 (2018) and that - albeit of course a completely different MIB - had no issues with any station logos so it’s not a universal problem across all VAG brands. I was surprised to find that Radio X had no logo displayed in my PFL Cupra Ateca, but was able to import one (not a great image it has to be said) via USB as I don’t have USB-C in mine. I’ve no idea what head unit I have, it’s the one with “virtual” buttons as opposed to physical ones each side of the touch screen display.

The Audi from the date would be a mib2. 2020 is when mib3 came in across the Vag range apart from Passats that got it in 2019.

Your Cupra is a mib2 since as you say it doesn't have USB-C which came in with the FL Cupra's which have got Mib3. No SD slots in the glove box and connect services. So you did a Mib2 radio logo import as per:

Thread necromancy. I needed a DAB log for Radio X, so downloaded the file from media.info, stuck it on a USB (I have a PFL Ateca Cupra) and selected it on the MIB screen. All good. Get in the car the next day - no logo. Hmmm. And then, playing around with the drive settings (which as you'll know if you have it change parts of the digital cockpit display - I have the central digital speed surrounded by the rev counter with info zones eiher side) I put it into "Individual" and lo and behold, on the RHS of the digital dash the logo appears! But still nothing on the main display. Weird.

That's new behaviour (you mib2). Probably buggy firmware release that's in your unit.

Apart from comparing the firmware release of the infotainment for anyone with the same issues and upgrading unless you have discovered some new dimension constraints on that logo that shows on one display but not the other.

Try the long press reboot.... always worth a try.
