Hi all

I need help with this, im being told that this sensor is broken. The TCS light is on and cant be turned off, when the car is checked for faults its this sensor that comes up and when cleared and the test re-run just keeps coming back.

So do I front the £300 they are telling me or is there another option??? Has anyone had this before? anyone had the steering angel sensor go??

Please any help.

Have you tried to have it re-aligned?

Dont know if its the same on the Leon but I have done a couple of MK5 Golf's now where the light was on & re-aligned it on Vagcom

Hi Mate

I had seen this website before, would I use the Golf version?? assuming I would.

Is it difficult? is there anybody in or around Milton Keynes that has experience in doing this??

Out of interest, where exactly is the the SAS?? How do you get to it?

Thanks for you help

Do you have vagcom, if you know what angle the sensor is reading ie. -360' or 720' you can merely remove the wheel, spin the steering angle sensor 360' to the correct way round then refit wheel and done :)
I did this as the vagcom re-aligning wouldnt work for me

hmm,

How do you know what the angle is? or which way or how far to spin it? Surly is must be in the correct position when it was fitted, it just doesn't know it which is why you would re-calibrate it, but isn't moving it just asking for trouble?

i have had fun with this too had it on a citroen. the steering angle sensor varies from manufacturer to manuf.
by plugging ya car into a computer at a garage or friends i.e proper diagnostic it will tell you if it simply needs re calibrating or its goosed. Some systems even let you re callibrate using systems.
On the down side wityh citroen they purposly stopped you doing it yourself and made it so only their computer would access the menu required. Do some research with your local garage first.

If it turns out to be an actual fault with the unit scrap yards and referb places can be good.
The unit iteself is easy to remove once you manage to remove air bag etc. Not sure how easy the steering wheel is to re-aline so bare this in mind and have a marker on standby if it has loads of teeth.

Hope this helps.

cheers timboo

That was a good idea and Ive had a good look but nothing is coming up. Hopefully someone might have some ideas or a vagcom to help me re-calibrate it.

i used a snapon diagnostic. it told me it needed calibrating it also showed the angles on the digital display in degrees as u turned the wheel so i knew it was a simple calibration rather than a fault.
