Strange oil leak under both sides of car

Hi all

last night I just noticed what can only be described as a strange oil leak under both sides of my car.

The two spots in the picture below are where it is dripping from where the car was sitting overnight.

the picture below (not great I know) shows where from the car its been dripping from overnight. This only started yesterday as I've not noticed it on my garage floor before. I checked the oil and it's ok so far. It seems a bit far back from main the engine area to me and it's on both sides which is odd. I had the CV boots done recently but other than that no work done around that area. As can be seen it seems to be dripping from just where the wheel arch starts. It's quite worrying and I've no idea where it could be coming from.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

this is weird, i had the same sort of oily crap splashed up my skirt on the D/S but when the car was parked up and left i checked and it hadnt dripped?

are you saying its forward or rearwards of the engine? you say its back from engine but photo shows it to be forwards of the front wheel?

Sorry yes it's forward from the front wheels slightly and towards the back of the engine if you were to pop the bonnet and look at the engine face on. I hope that makes sense.

Looks like mine lol, inter cooler pipes dripping, not sure what car you have? Mines a 150 pd (front mount inter cooler).

i agree with cocadave check the intercooler pipe seals
you can purchase these seperately

Is it really oil? theres drainage holes from the scuttle area which drain close to the front wheels.

The car's an LC Curpra (petrol).

as to whether it's oil I'm pretty sure it is. I've had the car for years and never noticed this before. It's a bit odd it's just started.

What does it smell of? Maybe gearbox oil weeping out? Gearbox oil smells of onions, makes me gag. Could be CV grease, depends on how thick it is.

can't see any trrace Andy. I'm having it looked at this weekend as I'm having the front brakes done and will report back. Without seeing it, my mechanic mate reckons that the garage maybe have not properly fitted the CV boots and grease is mixing with water spraying up and dripping down. I should know by Saturday.

I'll check the power steering fluid tonight to see if that's leaking.

are they not rearwards of the front wheel, where this appear to be forwards of the front wheels.

I also think that the VC joints being changed might be a possible cause as if they were leaking or spraying then as the fron wheels turn they woud spray forwards of the front wheel onto the arch?

chuck a pint of water into the skuttle panel and see where it comes out.

I get load of water from the front of the arch.were the wheel arch cover sits.

Forward of the front wheels? Boost hoses. Oil from the PCV system getting blown out of the joints.
