3rd gear isnt too bad in mine, i cant afford an engine transplant and charging it, this will be unique. It's what i want to do anyway, can always change the gearing later on if i dont get on with it

how much does a gearbox rebuild cost roughly? and what ones fit the ADL lump

prob a couple of hundred Chris, well worth doing to get the right power at the right RPM when in gear i guess

not sure who would be best to do it though - Stealth racing?

or better than that is Storm Developments, which are in Aldermaston in Reading which is alot nearer to you, as its where I go

actually do you think the phirm would do it? they're even nearer to me in farnham

never heard of the phirm mate, or what their reputation is like

if they are a tuner for old skool dubs, the best place to ask is clubgti.com as im sure a number of guys would have used them

me personally, Storm all day everyday for me:D

and what ones fit the ADL lump
mk2 golf gti 16v. like for like its got better ratios and fits.8v ones have smaller input shafts if memory and robT are to be believed(i have no doubt about rob, just my own memory).speak to robT or bill they have a wealth of info on the ratio's and this engine.

found a few bits of my S/c checks - looks like M45 was favorite back then didnt realise it was the one fitted on the mini - Doh! is listed by eaton as 2.0/3.0L but let me know what pulley sizes your using and ill check the ratios

upgrade was earmarked M62 for later testing but never bothered to research the flows on that

dunno bout how much boost mate, will find that out when we get it all running

i think the standard eaton pulley will be used

will the standard pully be ok?

just thinking that the pulleys on the mine, run about 160bhp, you will be running near to 200bhp...does it have to be uprated or will it be ok?

just a thought as you certianly dont want it going ping!

pulley will be ok for reliabilty - its the size for gearing the screws thats the issue

smaller pulley = spins faster

larger pulley = spins slower

or is it the other way round :)

no u got it right mate, smaller pulley = more boost as the charger screws spin faster, and bigger pulleys mean less boost but more reliability, as there's lee pressure
