Did you ever get a lambda spacer?

Turns out my eml light wasn't the lack of cat, it was the charcoal canister purge valve i'd removed, got an incorrect flow fault. So I ordered the spacer for no reason. Do you want it? Will be cheaper than a new one :)

My spacer off ebay didn't fit mate, which spacer do you have, is it the 42 draft designs one from Awesome GTI? That's the one I'm after.

Mines the same as the 42 draft one. Its a 60 degree angle one, with a locknut and copper crush washer, so you can angle it so it fits. I can see why yours wouldn't have, if it comes straight out at 90 degrees it would hit the tunnel. I paid £19.99 delivered, make me an offer if it sounds like what you're after?

Is that what I'm going to need Tom ?

Probably.

I'll think about it mate. Might get it mapped out yet. Literally not spending anymore on the car now until I'm back from my holiday really.

how many times have I heard you say this recently? I'm sure myself and Darren can persuade you to continue spending

No chance. I know roughly when the next upgrades are happening though, nearly booked it in yesterday but actually talked myself some sense to be patient, for once, lol.

Track time beckons.

So tomorrow evening I'll be getting the car on track with along with D.K, EL and Dave Hodges in his LCR, and I can't bloody wait! :D

After a bit of reading and asking around, I'm dropping the tyres down to 30psi from 33 for the track even if it's a 20min session, it's likely to get very hot on track.

Not a cloud in sight and hotter than today is the forecast, 29 degrees or so during peak tomorrow. We are on track at 7pm so should be cooler but the tarmac will store plenty of heat as there are other track sessions going on throughout the day.

Should be awesome :D Looking forward to seeing how the car feels on track since many of the mods have been done, especially the front ARB as this has made a massive difference during fast road use, really impressed me a lot.

Provided tomorrow goes fine without a hitch, the car performs well and it puts a big smile on my face, I will almost certainly finish the car off once I'm back from my holiday.

Full bushing, the clutch (and gearbox will be checked over with oil service if need be), and then an LSD for sure.

This car now feels very quick on the road and pretty capable. Certainly a different animal to the car I bought 2 years ago, so may aswell finish it off and see what more I can get from the car especially on track next year..

Good luck t0m,
On the track anything you felt the car was 'missing' will be heightened even more. Maybe u will come back thinking 'I need more power' or 'these cars defo need this or that'.

Wish I could of done this too but I already know what's missing on my car.

I bet it will be weird on the first lap or so that you can go as fast as you want and not get a ticket!!!! Gotta love track days. :)

Another thing to consider is dont just join from the pits and gun it
Go round the 1st lap or so about 50-75% to get heat into the brakes and tyres and try to get a cool down lap in too before you come off
I'd say 30psi ambient is fine as you would want slightly overinflated tyres when warm to try and strengthen up the side wall and stop tyre fold
Remember to keep an eye on your mirrors too
Once you come back in the pits, leave the engine running and open all the windows and put the heater as high and hot as possible to draw the heat out of the coolant and bay

I'm looking forward to it. First few laps and last couple will be slow warm up and cool down laps for sure.

I won't be going for more power. To keep a decent FWD handling car you don't need much more than 300bhp and decent torque through those wheels IMO. :)

Got plenty more work to do before she's finished and these things should definitely improve track attack next year..

Bring it oooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn :)

You know matey :D

Make sure you take a digital tyre inflator 30 psi will soon rise to 34+ psi I'd drop them lower than 30

1st thing you know the car needs is decent brakes two piece floating disks , be very shocked if you don't warp the ebc ultimax I did on the road

It's only a 20min session, spoke to quite a few people now. 29/30 should be fine considering only time it's getting driven a bit harder is going to be around 10-12 mins or so at a guess.

Will see on the brakes. TBH if you cool them down properly and warm them up nicely before use they should be fine. Heard the warping happens when you stop so soon after hot use... Will report back tomorrow, lol.

Cheers for the advice mate, taken in :) Defo having the heater on high when I come in, these cars get hot enough as it is!!

Have a great session tomorrow guys. Seems like you've been waiting a long time for this. Enjoy it Tom :)

Thanks mate :) Should be great fun.
