I normally vent my tank when I fill it and have been getting around 55 litres in it.
Last weekend I was caught out on Otterburn ranges, the gauge read zero, the OBC showed zero miles to go, but I still had to get back to Newcastle. Knowesgate no longer sells fuel so the first filling station I came to was at the airport, 30miles on!!
I brimmed the tank it took 58.48 L!!

Sorry for prob a stupid question but how do you manage to fill the vent up cos doesn't the pump auto click out?

Fill up till the pump clicks off.

Then pull the filler nossle back and hold down the little switch inside the filler neck.

Then pump more fuel till its full to the neck.

Tank is quoted as 45 litres so is the expansion space really over 10 litres or does the tank hold more than 45 litres without venting?

Anyone got over 45 litres in without venting?

I can never work out how to properly 'vent' mine. Most I've got in is 47l. Gets a bit annoying as I do a lot of miles, that extra litre or two means I only need to fill up once a week.

Do you have to press the little nossle in and pump fuel in at the same time or can you just push the nozzle in and then place the pump back into the filler neck then fill up? I can never really seem to vent mine fully I only seem to get another litre or so in before it clicks.

Keep it pressed in so it holds the vent tube open.

The most I have managed to fill in is 55 litres. Venting does wonders to the range you get between fill ups, drove 800 km/500 miles with my last tank full.
