:confused am getting a aterible taping when the car is in motion and the car vibrates at around 60mph and also when you decelerate it sounds like it is coming from the front

Does anyone have any ideas what it may be?

I had something similar and found both my front wheels were not tight after having tyres fitted. If I remember mine was quiet under acceleration. worth a check

If when you press the brake pedal the pedal pulses could be warped discs. Another sugestion may be a wheel bearing or as suggested the wheel being off balance but that would no account for the tapping.

I think I woud start with checking that the wheel bolts are all tight. If that's OK I would go looking for a tyre that has a bulge in it or a tyre that is egg shaped. This could be pot hole damage.

Por wheel ballancing doesn't normally cause a tapping noise but the above could.

I'd check how it is under braking. Inconsistant pedal feel and stopping then warped discs. Stationary there is no noise, even when revved?? If not then I wouldn't say it was an engined based. I'd go with either egged alloys or bad alignment/ missing wheel weights.
