Hi all
just been quoted £304.00 supply and fit new alternator by local dealer, has anyone had one fitted recently ,if so is this price about norm

tdi 150?? alternator retailes @ around 170 ish prb dealer price for fiting is around 70 an hour odd so ye for a dealer thats logical i would say.. try a backstreet garage alternator straight forward to change maybe main dealer will change the auxilary belt in that price..if you add up all that and include the vat thats reasonable i would say for a dealer

You might get lucky if mine could have been repaired he quoted me £50 obviously depending on what he found.
I had to get a new/re-coned one, £130 it cost.
Do shop around though the prices vary massively i found.
Fitting is a piece of cake 30 minutes maximum.

would it be advisable to change the belt as well or is it just another main dealer add on

I never changed the belt they are so simple to do though due to the way the tensioner works.
