After doing a few searches, i am suprised to learn that TDi's run such hich boost, standard ~20-25 Psi / remapped ~ 30 psi:blink:

my query is, what is the max boost a PD130 turbo and associated parts will run at regularly / reliably?

i am also intrested in this, i always thought it wasnt the boost level that killed the turbo but the EGT's caused by high boost levels, so you could run high boost if you can get lower EGT's by getting a free-flowing exhaust.

already got one ;)

not an expert on engines by any means so couldn't comment on what kills turbo's.
would have thought boost pressure would have been the major killer though

well mine was running 200bhp and 322lb ft torque with 1.6bar boost
i would not want to put 2 bar plus through a stanmdardd turbo mate
t-spark did it and after a few miles it started to make its way out i believe

wouldnt have given you 6 bhp, look at the mods ive done on my car, and ive gained f*** all :(
I did not get any more after my decat either Brad. Tell a lie I did get something, a bloody great roar from the exhaust at full throttle, thought the exhaust had fell off!

stock pd130 boost is around 17 to 18 psi, and remapped no higher than about 24 psi - based on the stock turbo anyway. I don't even run 30 psi and I'm running a hybrid.

cheers, good info! :D
out of interest, what boost does your hybrid run at?

as for the rest of you "decat" thread-jackers :p
if you remove the cat / soot trap, and thus remove a restriction / creating a free flowing exhaust, why wouldn't it increase bhp shrug:
if the exhaust gas can be expelled quicker, the turbo will spool up quicker and continue to do so a lot easier, so there will be an increase in bhp!!! ;)
