Temperature Gauge not moving - HELP

I'm using a cheap ebay green sensor and have been for ages, works perfect.

If your temp rises when stopped and goes down when driving it's your stat.

just had a nice long drive, my gauge hasnt lifted above 65c however if I really plant it i seen it rise to nearly 90c but as soon as i come off the throttle it drops agian.

do you think the new stat is faulty ???

I got mine from halfords, couple of years ago now

Yeah you get warranty with everything you buy

thats good, but they not gonna pay the mechanic to change it

yes m8 proper garage audi specialist , got invoices for the work. had cambelt and a service at same time

Go back and tell them it's knackered did they supply or you?

no i supplied, i was going to do it myself but didnt have the tools

engine light on again now, car is being rubbish

ordered a stat from david at sere and picked up 2 bottles of g12 £40 down so far will let u know how i get on.

hi, can anyone try this for me please with a cold car

ignition on but dont start engine, access on board diagnostics and select coolant temp sensor (sensor 51) wait 15/20mins

mine started at 27c and climbed to 90c without even turning engine over

confused to say the least

Changed stat yesterday, pretty sure i found the problem

This stat was from euro car parts fitted six months ago

Maybe i've been unlucky but i've replaced with genuine item from sere, will defo think twice about buying cheaper parts
