Hi guys,

Since the weather has dropped off a tad, I have noticed that my Tolly TDI doesn't always start first time like it used to.

The Glow plug light is still going out after abot 3 seconds, but the engine doesn't always catch and fire up after that !

Always starts second time and drives just fine, so don't think there is much wrong.

I have had a read through all the stuff available on here about Glow plugs, but the one thing I haven't been able to find is any way of testing glow plugs..

Anyone know, how to test them ?

I thought I had read somewhere that they could be tested by a simple resistance measurement, but maybe I dreamt this ?

One last question, anyone got any recommendations on which glow plugs to buy and where to get them, and how much I should be paying ?

Ta.

you will need to remove the harness then test each one for resistance between it's terminal and earth I would go for BERU or Bosch, cheeper from a diesel specialist than dealer, if one's gone it may be an idea to change all if youre feelin' flushed

Nope, its not a PD, just a normal 110 bhp TDI..

I think I will replace them all, as the car has done 100k now and I bet it has never had any !

So why are the PD glow plugs different ?

Thanks
