manifold
Spark plug
Valves
Airflow meter
Inlet manifold
Clutch
injectors
fuel pump
Cylinder head
Connection Rod

Im no expert on this but you can just buy k04 conversions rather than stripping an s3 engine down.

turbo - yep
manifold - think its connected to the turbo but who knows
Spark plug - no might aswell just upgrade to cooler ones
Valves -
Airflow meter - doubt it
Inlet manifold-
Clutch - no prob the same
injectors - yep or RS4 injectors
fuel pump - same may aswell wang in a hpfp
Cylinder head -
Connection Rod -
Crankshaft -
Piston -
Camshaft intake -
Camshaft Exhaust -
Intake Air duct -

someone will be along to confirm i hope.

i thought about buying a k04 convershon but i got the full s3 engin for 500quid.
i could do with knowing everythink that has to be changed, even down to little things like intercooler pipework and so on..............

has any one ever done this b4?

As far is i know the s3 pipework doesnt fit but make sure you add the s3 intercooler. The s3 cooler is something like 20% more efficient unless youve got a better one lined up.

i think the best thing i can do is to just get a forge fmic for the cupra? and that way it should just fit straight in to my tfsi? :S
would the pipework fit :s lol

Obviously it'll be easier to swap engines rather than swap pistons, rods, cylinder heads etc.
The S3 is 4WD, so will everything connect/fit properly?
Gearbox fit the same, same sump? The pipework the same?
The S3 has the engine the same way round doesn't it?
Same sensors / wiring on the engine? If not, you'll need parts of the loom from the S3, and the ECU might not support these.
Then you need to see if your ECU will be suitable for the S3 engine.

I'm not sure if it's worth it!
I am however looking for a new engine for my lawnmower...

yeh, dont realy wanna drop the full engin in it,would just like to take me uprated engin parts off the s3 engin and put them in to my tfsi, even if i only get an extra 50bhp i will know it isant goint to blow up im a few months lol.....

like the idear of the lawnmower if i cant make it fit tho :D

Why not swap the whole engine minus gearbox?

The amount of labout involed to rebuild the engines will be huge.

You'd be better off sticking the S3 lump in that pulling both apart and rebuilding *(unless you want to resolve any issues with stuff like hardened values as part of your build).

There is so much stuff that has been changed in the S3 lump to accommodate running 1.2bar (uprated bottom end / pistons / rods / cams etc...), the straight swap would be easier.

The S3 engine is used in the new Scirocco R, so I don't see the haldex system causing any issues as all of that malarky sits with the gearbox/drivetrain area, and not the engine.

Are you doing this as a DiY job or enlisting the help of a specialist?

It's more likely to blow up if you swap parts over. Don't attempt it if you have never rebuilt an engine before.
All the parts have worn together in both engines, there's no point mixing and matching.
Your looking at hundreds of pounds just to replace the seals and bolts you need to replace when you rebuild it.

Agreed.

will i need parts of the loom from the S3,is the sensors / wiring on the engine the same??
will my ECU support these.

If the cars going to be crushed in the near future then get the ECU and engine loom from it!

I would honestly go and get a specialist to fit it.

Go to Storm Developments in Aldermaston, they have just done a 2.0T transplant.

It will cost less for them to do a proper job than it will to fix a mistake if you get something wrong.

the guys at Storm Developments recon it will be better to swop the bits insted of the full engian and thay recon i wount neead anythink els apart from my car the s3 engian, turbo, intercooler and intercooler pipework.thay think thay can get it to run between 310bhp and 330 with out a decat. :D

Of course they want to go down that route!

As well as paying them to take an engine out and refit it, you will also be paying them to strip 2 engines and rebuild them! Not to mention the cost of new bolts, seals, gaskets etc.

How much did they say it would cost?
