traumpat, we;re talking TODAYS cars becoming classics.. not already well-respected cars like the Mexico. No one is debating their status.
Predicting future classics isn't easy.. but we're taking a whack at it. And in my eyes, machines like the Focus RS have already attained that status. It's supreme.. and it isn't all about speed. By todays standards, the Mexico sure as hell isn't quick!!
Woah man.. did you not read my earlier posts.. or anyones?
I'm of the LCR = Not classic school of thought.
Nothing unique about it, it's one helluva motor.. don't get me wrong. But it isn't the first, nor last to encorporate style, speed and value.
The Mexico and cars of its genre were designed and produced in a different economic climate.. not to mention under less tight emissions restrictions. We won't ever see a return to the days of carbs, twin or single. They just put out too much "harmful fumes."
While we're adding to this list.. I'd like to nominate the Sierra RS500.
R32 is too heavy? :S Whaaaaat? There is a fairly big engine in there to help with that.
Nova SR , true classic. 1300 cc's of raw nothing
