I will be very interested in what extra it gives to VAG Group motors with the SFD2 security,

I have been told there will be an official release soon and then more details will be shared but have to say the FORD update is a disappointment as its only related to US Made motors.

And just in case you missed it the pre release stuff wont be posted till August.

Yes and also interesting to see what happens with the Lifetime Pro as they have made it plain it will only work on the VAG App which they will over time close down.

"The Vag app they will close down over time"... i am expecting on my EV in 2030 to be locked 🔒 out of everything 😉. They dont want you fiddling with safety features like lane assist which is classed as a safety feature... etc.

Well they have updated the terms and conditions.

Well it's the big reveal day today to find out what the new dongle and rules are but I have noticed today that the Terms and Conditions have already been updated.

Ultimate plan now has a fair usage policy

26. Use of the ULTIMATE subscription plan is subject to the following fair usage rules: (i) Credit Allocation: by activating the ULTIMATE subscription plan, you are granted access to 10,000 credits for each 12-month period of the subscription term. In the case of a multi-year subscription, the total number of credits for the full term is allocated immediately upon activation. Unused credits do not carry over beyond the subscription term.; (ii) Credit Usage and Top-Ups: if the allocated credits for a given 12-month period are fully used before that period ends, you may either wait until the beginning of the next subscription year to receive the next credit allocation or purchase additional credits separately.

This seems a fair rule to me otherwise people will take advantage.

27. The Services are intended strictly for personal, non-commercial use. Any use of the Services for commercial purposes, including but not limited to providing paid services to third parties, use within a professional workshop environment, or sharing or reselling service access, may result in suspension or termination of your account. OBDeleven, UAB reserves the right to monitor usage of the Services. In the event of suspected abuse or violation of these fair usage rules, OBDeleven, UAB may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Services, with or without prior notice.


Lifetime Pro rules appear to me unchanged

28. The OBDeleven "Lifetime VAG Pro" Plan, is applicable solely within the OBDeleven VAG application, grants users access to specific Pro functionalities for Volkswagen Group cars (Long Coding, Adaptations, Basic Settings, Subsystem coding, Output test, Gateway list coding, Change diagnostic service, Security Access, SFD Unlock, and Unlimited vehicles on the account). This Plan is non-transferable to the main OBDeleven application, and excludes access to any new vehicle brands, features or functionalities developed after June 15, 2021. "Lifetime" access is defined by the lifespan of the VAG App, with OBDeleven reserving the right to alter or discontinue the OBDeleven VAG App or its services at any time.

Obdeleven always to me comes over as a marketing company. The tech works but they have a layer of marketing to sell their products. Presume all marketing. Will I find this "event" on YouTube ?.

Reckon just an updated obd dongle from the last one. Faster chipset etc. Their movement to cover their base in other car markets to VAG where competitors exist. The "coding" side is still on the Vag side. The one click is on the Vag and other markets was my take away. Ultimate is a coding club for people to do their work (the makers) using crowd sourcing for the micro payment apps. You get paid with credits as before.

It's a bit like a piece of software of old which promises a lot but you dont know what it quite does but cheaper if you buy into it now. Well we know what the existing products does, this one seems an extension of the black dongle into other car markets with an updated chipset.

The regulations on use you get the impression that they are licensed to sell the tool for the home market but the big boys get the professional market. If you use it for business purposes they maintain the right to turn you off (fair use). For VAG this will be the SFD license. Ofcourse they could have a professional license up their sleeve they want to sell at a later date. Their income comes from selling the dongle, the credits and the Vag license (Pro). Costs of development, maintenance, hardware / software and license to car makers where payment may be required. Fair use ensures that doesn't get imbalanced by the user base.
