I know everyone says its not possible to put a k04 on a mk 3 cupra, but has anyone thought long and hard about it?

So the turbo is too big and it wil hit the bulkhead, or would it be just the actuater?

My idea ( may not work, but i reckon with a few heads together this could be possible) is to machine the exhaust manifold face to give a bit more clearence.

My other idea was to heat up the bulk head and reshape it where the turbo would hit.

I know its highly unlikely to get it too fit, but any one else got any ideas. I have full access to engineering machinery of all sorts so doing the work wouldnt be a problem

Any wise heads, what do u think?

The K04 used on the LCR/TT exits out the side, straight into the steering column

If you can get round that, the biggest hurdle is done.

who says it cant be done???? love to have a chat with that guy, since up to 8 months ago i was running one o a rhd ibiza!!!

downpipe is a complete bollox to make, other than that, its as simple as a k03s swap.

i disagree as k04's can be picked up cheapish in this country

t18con - who made you downpipe? did you fit it yourself?

im not an expert on elminators, but know the results havent been staggering to date. i made my own downpipe, a lot of work required, but have heard it can be done by clamping in a flexi section with holes drilled in it, wedge it to the required position, fill with expanding foam, let it set and then take off and copy. i did mine the amateurish way bit by bit. pics here somewhere.

Ive just bought a k03s to go on, so i thought well the turbo is off id offer up a k04 and see what could be done. Ill take some measurements and see. What downpipe to di u modify t18con, standard or uprated? And did u just heat it up and bend it to fit or cut and reweld? This is starting to become a possibility........

and you are all comparing the standard k04 02 with the eliminator, ls cartec do a hybrid one that is untried afaik. k04 is as good as anything in the 200/300 bhp bracket, but i would also say the most cost effective is still ihi or gt series and skip the middle step!

its not a possibility based on what youve said, k04 requires new manifold , oil lines , downpipe and tip.as the guy above said k04 is side exit, k03 is down exit.

Nope, Casper is still running an L&S Cartec K04R with a claimed 300bhp.

Awesome's old LCR with stock K04-23 and APR Downpipe/Miltek catback did 285bhp, so I think the K04R would do +10bhp.

There's also other, and I think better, hybrids available (turbo dynamics do one, albeit expensive) but they're still an unknown to some extent.

I'm a BIG K04-23 fan, just seems a lot of work (like you said) to switch to a K04-23 from a K03S, for not a massive on-the-road gain. You might as well go for a K03S/K04 Hybrid and stick with the stock/off the shelf downpipe, especially as there's more choice in manifolds for K03 cars.

Or, like you said, skip it and go for the next step up.

Yup, as Feel said, i am still running the L&S Cartec K04R and am satisfied with it. No problems with the turbo so far (more than 12000 miles). But am considering the 28rs eliminator kit from ATP for the next season. If i go for it, i will be still using the 440 injectors and stock internals. Will see, if the sponsor backs it up financially:)
