Silicon sealent is a bodge job will defo end up leaking again. Mine did

Waterproof bathroom sealant.....works a treat and has lasted on my car

Yes clean the 2 prongs when the engine is cold, in the expansion tank.Use a screwdriver or your partners toothbrush

Funniest thing about that, when I came to doing this myself it was either my toothbrush which I use all time....or hers.

Heh, yes did my scuttle cover like that. Works a treat. Now of course my bonnet release cable has water running down it and had a good 2cm in the rear passenger footwell this morning. Was the front door - that's all 4 done now!

Can also come down the bonnet release cable so cover the grommet next to the box in the above pic.

Also the pollen filter casing can leak.

I went for butyl tape and silicone just to be extra careful no leaks for a year!
