Very nice car mate, it's good to read what you've done with it!

Re: thePHILosiphers FR TDi

Took me literally ten seconds to remove and fit my new aerial, unscrew the old one stood from behind the car, lean it towards you at a 90 degree angle and give it a good pull, should come loose though you may need to keep pulling hard for a few seconds. Then just screw the new one in :)

Pics before and after once done? :)

as ever :D

gave a bit more resistance, was paranoid about damaging the roof but all ways good

Cupra Bushes Vs FR Bushes

So the day has spent well.

Car went into Ali at 18 again for its 40k service, new brake pads, replacing the dash facia trim piece and fitting a pair of shiny new cupra bushes.

old bushes, as you can see these are well and truely knackered:

after having them fitted it makes a world of difference, in terms of immediate change, i think this has made bigger instant change than the remap. The power is now fed smoothly, no wheel shake, it just grips and goes. In the bends its alot more secure and stable, gives you alot more confidence to give it the beans

Best £160 ive spent, fact!!

the standard bushes are poor to say the least. the play in steering was scary to say the least, accelerating and braking was near enough close your eyes and hope for the best.

just viewed your vids on the bushes and to have them that bad after 8000miles is abysmal, did you get them done at SEAT??

I was going to do them myself but gave up too easily, took it to a mates Garage to get them done.

hope the new bushes last a bit longer for you, the cupra ones are well worth the investment.

Haha... it's something different I guess.

I think red and yellow are slowly coming back in as racing colours again! White will soon die out...

 yeh white cars hmm just not a fan, silver has always been a good understated colour as every colour seems to go with it, when i bought this car i wanted something slightly more vulgar and in your face and personally the facelifted FR looks good in red (amazing what a brochure will do for a car) my last ibiza was in zenith

and the one before in platinum which was my favourite

Zenith Grey looks best on the Cupra, fact! Was always a little disheartened when I had the FR and it just didn't have those styling tweaks of the Cupra!!

Looks really nice, you've done a great job of this, shame you've had so many problems with it!!

the FR from standard is a little limp in style, the front bumper looks less aggresive smaller spoiler etc etc, advantage it has tho imo, is smarter alloys and a better exhaust tip.

the car certainly has been a friday afternoon car in terms to amount of things that have gone pop and has left me skint, living off the credit card and so annoyed i want to push it off a cliff, I've become really attached to it. and *touchwood* I wont have to worry about it until the cambelt is due in december

I did grow to like the wheels quite a lot, but always preferred the cupra exhaust. Just make sure you take it somewhere reputable for the cambelt, don't skimp with 'em :)

You've made the best out of the **** you've been thrown, so spot on :D

cambelt will be done by Ali again, he set up Unit 18 with Techie a few years back and is fully VAG trained, he has done ace job helping me maintain this car, seems like i have found a rare thing, a garage i can trust, do the job properly and not rip me off in the process

You've had a few beeza's haven't you mate lol  - yeah lovely cars. I'm not going up 7/8 insurance groups for a Cupra when you can just map it. Just a shame about the fmic etc etc...

yep certainly have, the platinum one was my first car, had that a year then and as always in your first year had an accident (still maintain it wasnt my fault but any way ) it didnt feel right so i traded it in for the Zenith grey sport 100 which was brand harry spankers, had that a year, got a promotion and an noticeable pay rise, realised I could buy the FR instead of modding the 1.4 to look like the FR so i did :D never looked back either, altho once the finance runs out on this, i might well be jumping ship from SEAT, the new cars just dont tick right boxes, i'll probably look at an alfa or something similar (god i say that with the problems ive had with dealers )
