you say that but i changed to the cupra partly for reliability, my old polo gti had less common issues but i'll let you judge whether they are less important..puts a perspective on things(no car is perfect):

-Pedal box failure
-Major Gearbox Issues, on the local forum only one person ever made it to 80k, most of the time they would blow up after 12months or so, a rebuild costing around 800 quid a pop
-Cambelt issues, I heard of someones going at 20k, they just randomly snap, no warning
-Window regulator failure

Must admit my trusty Mondeo was sound as a pound for reliability but the grin factor of the Cupra outweighs these issues for me (until something major goes wrong and I moan about it )

its just annoying more than anything and looking a total ****. ive had bmw's toyotas and vauxhalls and one has never broke down. just piss's me off

to be honest could be worse, could still have one of those vauxhalls now and then look like a total **** all the time

2 coil packs
3 MAF's
1 window regulator
1 petrol cap motor
1 coolant sensor
1 brake servo hose
valve stem oil seals
worn wrist pins
slipping clutch
OS wheel bearing
broken radio
dropping clutch pedal
dead battery
boot lid jammed shut countless amounts of times
CD changer broken
misting headlights

All sorted but annoying to do all the time.

Then i've replaced, top mounts, suspension bearings, filters etc, had geo setup,... and broken things like, brake lines, fmic braket, ARB bracket, boot lid clips broken, about 5 plug changes, 10 oil changes, countless sets of tyres and brakes etc.. but i still love it.

And its better now than its ever been.

Hmmm, i dont like this thread.

I'm supposed to be selling the my 16V Corrado in order to buy a Ibiza Cupra, but it would seem that they can be just as bad, if not worse!

Don't forget that the last of the Mk3 cupras will be 6 years old sometime this year. It's inevitable that the older a car gets the more will go wrong with it.

Good job you didn't crash it. My mate crashed his lesser saxo a few years ago and it really didn't hold up well for what was a relatively minor crash.

My pedal broke a week or so ago - its just one of those things, annoying yes, but im used to breaking down after owning peugeots!

Buy a brand new car and things can still break on it - its a car for god sake.

i done 16k in those 14 month's, had one service and a cambelt, i never replaced a thing, and it got death everywhere!, totally diffrent car, its funny how people who have never owned a saxo are the first to slag them off ( me being one of them until i owned one )

r8byb - you will find a lot of people hate saxos mate, they have picked up an image due to the majority of binners that drive them (not saying it applies to you or all drivers though)

Just the way it is - tell people on here (or a lot of forums) you drive a saxo and expect abuse!

I think everyone on this site is qulaified to talk about saxo's, you see all of us at some point has bought a Tin of Beans and there both made from the same stuff......... TIN,

Thing is most people step up from saxo to a Cupra. They are'nt really in the same league

I used to own a Saxo VTR before i got into VW's. Ok it lived up to its reliability expectations, but my god it was fun to drive! Lowered 55mm running toyo proxies too, so you throw it into any corner you wanted

I just think some people are very narrow minded and generally jump to conclusions.

For example, the amount of posts on here about unreliabiltiy, boost problems, electrical problems etc etc, ive had mine a week and have a boost problem.

I know its a tin can, we all do, i was just saying you dont want trouble buy something like that IMO
