Marty, will be nice to see some pics of the new motor.
Or I might see out on the roads as I'm quite local to you!

no worries, if/when i get it there will be pics.
im still shocked the mazda3 MPS was so uninspiring. basically my search criteria is a fast (or fast-ish) family 5 dr hatch.

gonna try a ford focus ST-3 that a guy at work is selling. its got a handful of remaps that you can fiddle with via a dreamscience handheld thingy-ma-jig. should be fun but im feeling like the leon is the one for me.
i just need DSG in my life :D

hmmm.....in a quandry now...
dealer is coming out at £23475 for the car, with 18" black orions, conv. pack and k1 kit added
they will take my A6 avant in scrappage for £3500 and im chucking in £5k deposit too.

drive the deal offer the car for £19010 with 18" albera (i'll use the tyres and by BBS CH rep's), and conv pack.
they dont take the scrappage deal on seats...just called them to confim that.

so iff i add £2k for the kit supplie dand fitted at my local seat dealer + £400 for teh alloys then the car comes out at £21410

so dealer = £23475
DTD = £21410

no contest really. its saving £2065.

now assuming i only got £2500 min for my audi on teh private market, that reduces my savings to £1065.

do i want/need the hassle of getting the kit fitted and having no car for a week etc AND the hassle of selling my car all for a grand??

maybe maybe not.
could just get it thro seat, the car comes with 18" orions and kit fitted before i collect it. job done in one simple transaction, albeit £1065 dearer...

probs answered my own quandry there!....but its all info for you to read and comment on and hopefully help any other prospective FR 170 CR buyers.

Bear in mind that even though the kit is supplied & fitted by a SEAT dealer, it will be classed as a modification. So your insurance company will try to stiff you for that.

ran the quotes thro on confused, ticked the box for OPTIONAL body kit and it came out at around £15/year dearer so not worth worrying about.

also did a quote for NON Standard alloys (for the BBS CH Reps) and OPTIONAL body kit and it came out at around £20/year dearer so again nowt to worry about.

for info, with a TS11 postcode it comes out around £306 for standard trim car and about £318-£325 with kit and alloys added.

happy with that.

need help here chaps...
in a sticky situation.
basically a local dealer has a white FR 170 Cr DSG arriving in around 3-4 weeks (he ordered it last summer)
he can give me that car for a price which im happy with, problem is its base spec. and doesnt have any options. id get some black BBS CH style wheels fitted http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/18-BBS-CH-Style-Alloy-Wheels-for-Audi-A3-VW-Golf-mk5-6_W0QQitemZ220510134564QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET?hash=item33576da124#ht_534wt_939 to it prior to collection and ditch the Ibera's but use the supplied tyres.

the car i want with just the convenience pack and black orions will take 14-18 weeks he tells me.

i questioned teh whole thing of the deal taking longer than 4 months - 120 days which is the time limit for teh government scrappage deal. he said i woudl have to stump up the 3500 in place of teh scrappage if ther car was delivered outside 4 months...
that would be a bummer in my opinion!

what to do? the car of my spec could cost me only £10/month more than the base spec thats in transit. or it could cost me 3500 more if it didnt work out.

is it silly to take the gamble oand wait our 3-4 months for the car or should it just ditch the convenience pack ideas and buy a base spec car and get it in say 5-6 weeks....

tough one isnt it!

I would place the order and wait the 14-18 weeks. When paying that sort of money dont compromise.

£23475 does seem exspensive though, I got my Facelift Cupra for £21,840 with similar options last options. That took 12 weeks to deliver.

I'd go for the one you want cos in 3-4months you'll wish you had waited. I got a Leon CR DSG in black. Ir drives amazing! Seat are prioritising scrappage deals so I wouldn't worry.

That price included £750 nocked off and £300 gap insurance.
For the front bumper, skirts & spoiler I paid £1151 but for the rear bumper it would have been another £600 on top.

ok, well my audi is worth about 2500 privately or less as a p/x. so i feel like its a decent enough deal.

he said if i sold the car privately he could maybe knock a little more off the price but he'd have to knock a grand off to add to teh 2500 cash id have from the audi sale, just to make the same deal as ive got now...

im having GAP chucked in, it cost the dealers much less than 300 to write the policy up.

ive got 2 dealers now chomping a the bit, both not wanting to be out done on the sale.

should hopefully close the deal in the next day or 2

as for the costs of your parts, your looking at 1751 for the lot with the rear bumper. add to that the centre exit exhaust im getting and i bet your near the 2k mark. so my charge of 2k fo r that isnt bad then..

i like your cars appearance but i just love the centre exit and will go for the whole lot on my car

I didnt realise you were having the exhaust. With the kit been with exhaust 2k is not a bad deal.
Has long as you are happy with the deal thats what counts, but like said, order the one you want and wait. It will be worth it.

Have to agree with Chris and HHSteve on ordering exactly what you want and waiting for it...especially with the amount you're paying.
BTW Chris, hows the DSG box with the 170 CR TDI..?
I've not seen any comments from anybody that has one yet...
That would have been my choice of engine/gearbox combo if it was available when we bought our TFSI DSG 2 yrs ago...

Ok im getting very close to closing the deal on this FR DSG and with me looking to get the aero kit fitted I want to know exactly what my options are.
Searched around on here with regards the radiator grill. Seems the grill that is supplied on the car will not mate up to the aero bumper? Is that correct?

Also seems I need to ask for either a pre facelift black cupra grill or a linea R grill? Will both of those work properly?

Whats the rough prices for these grills? I’ll try get it thrown into the deal.
Last thing I want to do is turn up to collect it and find the grill is just all wrong…

If you look at the pic of the FR in the showroom on in earlier post it seems that is a fl FR. What grill has that car got?

That was at my dealership :) that is the FL with the pre-fl grill, you can have that grill, the cupra grill or lineaR grill, the first 2 are about £35 the LineaR grill is over £50 i believe but are harder to get hold of. Go for the Cupra black one imo :)

Yes correct the new grill wont fit the aero bumper.

When I ordered mine I did not have to pay for a grill seperate, it was part of the aero bumper standard price (cupra one).
