I'd suggest to only do things like this if you're having stuttering issues etc. with the car. But then I am a conservative b@stard when it comes to doing random things to my car.

I know where your coming from there mate, although,am sure i read a post saying it was a good idea to do every 40-50K miles,it's just so much more responsive now:),and at the end of the day its a 15 minute job that isn't too hard to do.:D

I did it this morning and noticed something, the actual flap? (not sure on correct name) wasn't completely closed in a straight line, it was slightly open maybe by about 5mm. Is this normal or does it mean i need to get it aligned?

Thanks.

Would imagine the idle revs would be higher/lower then normal if it was slightly open? Might not be open significant enough to cause and difference tho

I think it ticks over between 700-800 but i do get a small amount of revs when i dip the clutch and change gear especially higher up around 4000rpm+ i've been trying to solve this issue before i get a remap.

I de-smegged my thottle body this morning it was really really dirty, after following the how to guide I took it for a drive earlier and I can't beieve how smooth it was compared to how it was before. A must do if your car isn't running smooth at low revs

I couldn't be bothered to take off the throttle body so gunned 300ml of carb cleaner down the inlet, was like a child taking cough mixture but it'll do it good in the long run!

HMMM lots of fluid in you intake manifold ready to be sucked into the combustion chamber, not really a good idea bud.
not a job to be taken lightly.
Very easy to do, if done right but very easy to do very wrongly, see above^^
