I've only had disposable cone filters in the past, so am used to just throwing away & replacing.

I have a green cone filter on the LCR, and it's time for a clean. Any advice? I've read I should stay away from oil based cleaners or risk damaging the MAF. Anyone else specifically have the green cone filter? A search on the forum has returned little for this specific filter.

Cheers!

Yeah if its Green Cotton then use their cleaning kit. It comes with a detergent stuff to wash the filter with then a little spray bottle of oil. Use the oil very sparingly as too much of it eats MAF sensors.

yep it's a "green cotton" air filter. Do I really need to use the oil? Bit concerned over damaging the MAF. Would I be better off putting the £10 I'd need to spend on the cleaning kit towards a new filter (that does not need to be oiled)?

Cheers.

I have a flat Green Panel filter and have cleaned & oiled it every year for the past 6years with no problems. As stated above DO NOT over oil the filter but rather just a light "dusting" of oil.
I normally hold the filter about 10" to 12" away from the spray and let the oil settle on the filter.
Hope this makes sense but should be much the same for the cone filter ;)
