Good stuff lad. Out of interest, where does all the action start to happen in the rev range? I logged a Bluefinned Edition 30 last week that never really started pulling til after 4200rpm.

Yeah, I would say around the same between 4,000 onwards you notice the difference. Its been like a cagged beast for two years since I bought it.

I'm downloading a revised map as we speak to reduce the boost as I think the fuel pump is struggling.

I will report back later.

Sorry for digging up an old thread but I do like using search..... doesn't the search in here allow you to search for exact terms? found it with google instead

I've had the same worries as the OP but just PAID for 2 yrs extra warranty with arnold clark, so 26 month in total
It's a 2007 FR tfsi leon but low mileage (20k) and looks/feels almost new, I worried about small print but never thought about modding till after I'd driven it (and probably visiting here) !

Am I right in saying blue fin don't cover extended warranties?

I guess it's just a question for AC if it voids the warranty, I'm starting to think a stage 1 makes sense

BLuefin has its own warranty and covers parts that are damaged due to the map, so it would have to be proved that the map caused it. However I wouldn't tell arnold ***** about the map, the last 4 cars of mine have all been mapped with bluefin and I guess i've covered 150k in mapped cars, 28k of them in the Cupra. You will be fine and its well worth doing.

Thanks Steve, I'm mighty tempted, obviously I'll need to tell the insurance company but it's due for renewal in Feb so not far off. How do you explain a remap, do they need to know the extra BHP?

If I'm taking it back into arnold ***** for the next services, do I need to reset back to the original or just leave it as is?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm seriously tempted (maybe after feb next yr when hopefully the weathers better) but after reading the faqs I'm still not clear. It mentions original warranty, this is extended warranty and the car's 4 yr old, am I right in saying the bluefin warranty only covers the first yr of use?

And what's the difference in map compared to what a local like Autohaus would do?

Summary of cover
Period: The Lesser of:
a) 12 months from the date of fitting of the Superchip to the Motor Vehicle by a Superchips Approved Installer or
b) 30,000 miles as measured on the Motor Vehicle odometer from the date of installation of the Superchip by a Superchips Approved Installer; or
c) the period remaining on the original warranty provide by the manufacturer of the Motor Vehicle at the time of purchase from new whichever is the shorter

Yes you need to tell your insurance company, they all treat them differently though, some ask the % increase, some ask the power. I the 8 years i've owned mapped cars with bluefin I bet i've only used the handset 15 times, I've only used it once on the Cupra in 2 1/2 years. Superchips service is very good but the STG1 can seem a little aggressive, I am actually thinking about removing bluefin and going down the Jabbasport map. If your local to Peterborough I'll happily take you out in mine.

Oh and insurance, i'm with A Plan in thatcham and pay £480 a year fully comp with all mods declared.

I'm digging the love in this place :D unfortunately I'm a long way from you, would've been good to see the effects....

You say you think bluefin is a bit too aggressive? I'm wondering how that compares to a revo remap, I've seen lots of good comments in here about Autohaus and it's not too far from where I am.
The warranty on bluefin sounds attractive though

I've had revo on my last car and also have experience with bluefin and revo is far more aggressive than a bluefin map.
Power wise I think that bluefin is approximately 85% of a revo map.

Picked my car up on Monday night and it's booked in for a Remap this Saturday :) I ran a Custom Code map on my MK1 Cupra R for about 4 years and never had any issues. I was probably averaging about 3-4 miles to the gallon too after it was mapped. I would get it mapped mate. You will honestly wonder why you didnt do it before!

I'm convinced :)

I'll need to phone the insurance company and see what they quote, I'm leaning towards bluefin but think I'll wait till insurance renewal is due

(sorry i stole the OP's thread, I wonder how he got on?)
