So a year has passed, and the
Ibiza has sat in my parents driveway since I parked it up after lifting the head last July.
Then last week I found the motivation I needed to crack on and get back into this project.
The plan is to generally tidy things up, lose a few bits, add a few new toys, and make it the car it was always planned to be. The engine is coming out to do the head gasket, fit a high lift cam, and just generally tidy it up, make some brackets for the intake pipe to secure it better, and paint it all up.
I'm ditching the water injection, as it had little to no benefit on this turbo/engine set up.
The reclining sports seats are going in favour of fixed back buckets.
More weight is being shed from the interior. Headlining and all pillar trims have gone, head unit and all speakers are gone, going to be grinding out the unnecessary brackets ect, and then painting all the inside to brighten it up a bit.
Also ditched the aircon, as it wasn't working anyway, and its a lot of weight for no benefit to be carrying around.
On the outside, the aero bumper has gone to a new home, and will likely be replaced by a standard item. Want to go back to more of an understated look with the car. Also planning on painting the car. Probably a matte colour, and using a roller haha. Paint/bodywork is crap anyway, so got nothing to lose in doing so.
Anyway, a few pictures of what I've done so far.
Engine is now at a stage where all the loom, driveshafts, pipes ect are disconnected, and all that remains to remove it is lift it off the top engine mount and gearbox mount. Will be borrowing my mates engine crane once this baby turns up, hopefully on Tuesday.
Then the interesting work can begin.
That's all for now, but I'll try keep this thread up to date as I go.
