totally standard Ibiza Cupra 2002

I have just bought a totally unabused standard ibiza which i would like to get modified straight away, i have already got a 007 DV. What would be a realistic list of mods i should get for it? in the squence they should be fitted? I want to leave the exterior standard and the exhaust. Id like to hear the turbo more..

Cheers guys if anyone can help, i konw you probibly have talked about it before but its to time comsuming to sift thru all the threads to find out what i need.

cheers man, ive had a 1600 sport ibiza for two year so its been modded as far as i could with out bursting at the seems and buying the cupra so i have them both sitting in the drive! both black and both look like cupras! so i was thinking revo chip, hurricane induction kit, dv007, what about suspension? i want it as low as it will go. Ive ordered a new set of 17" chrome vaults because ive got them on the sport but there a bit tired looking. Im not guna do anything with the exhaust because ive been cahrged and waiting to go to court for the magnex exhaust ive got on the sport.

?? going to cort , was your exaust over 94 Db sound limit and im guessing you had decat as well ? ? nothing wrong with changing the exaust as long as its done proply in the first place 100 - 200 cell cat and proper exauset kit for the car which improves performance ,not sound and looks

hey believe it or not, i put a universal ss box from magnex with an oval tail pipe on it! with a piper cross induction kit. Its reading 95 db! the cops pull me almost every night so i was sure that the exaust is not illegal so i never paided the fine that mounted up to 300! so its going to court, i was hoping to get support from magnex but they never got back in touch with me! pretty sh*t of them cause they're selling the exhausts! so the sport is off the road till the court and the cupra's on the go! the funny thing is that the cops will think its the same car as i have swapped all the things over and the number plate! that reads wagon and they also love pulling the plates off the car to! D*ckheads! does any know what the legal db is on an exaust?

also the cops can charge you under the construction and use regulations for an exhaust! anything that alters the sound of your car after the date of manufacture is deamed illegal! its fact btw i have had heated debates with the cops on the subject and they even say that all these exaust manufacturers are supplying ilegal exhaust! but the companies are to big to take down so they get poor joe soap on the street with his exhaust!

mOrk your a mad man you know everything! even the professor of sound and acoustics didnt know that details on that page! he's fighting in my corner v the fuzz! the other good thing is that 1600 sports are like hens teeth up here and the fuzz cant find a standard one to compare the two! the exhaust dont carry a "not street legal sticker" so they are breaking the law! im all for exhaust and noise!

im going to point out the obvious here but what about a full service, first mistake people make when owning performance cars is not to treat them like they are! servicing always comes over modifcations in my wish list as I'd rather a mildy modified car in perfect working order over a fully worked but broken car!

hey thanks man, the cars only got 29,000 miles on it and was serviced as part of the deal when i got it. Its going into seat on wedensday to get looked over. Ive been looking for a cupra for about three months and this one is a great example, full history, one owner, immaculate, standard as well, it has black leather with blue in the middle which is a nice change because they all seem to be red... Nothing wrong with red but i just wanted blue...

you say you get pulled over everynight by the police because of your exhaust, does this mean you're one of these people who insist on driving around town centres till the early hours?? Also if you have an illegally spaced number plate you will get pulled over and rightly so.

I've had a quick read of the gov info and am none the wiser.

Do they actually spec a level? (~cos 69dB(A) is ludicrously low) and will fail >70% vehicles like they say.

Drive by at Castle Combe for example is max of 93dB(A) with static test (45 degrees to tailpipe @ 0.5mtr @ 3/4 max revs) being 100dB(A) on track days and 105dB(A) on race days. - Castle Combe being a circuit under immence local minority pressure about noise pollution.

Mine is 95dB(A) static test, and roughly 93-95dB(A) drive by when all hot and on full chat. 3" twin box system

no jking i am not one of these guys who drive around town, my number plate reads wagon so i moved the letters closer, sorry if i dnt keep my car totally standard looking like yours and chrome vaults yes! they are interesting infact there stunning! the police dnt spec what the limit is because it applies to each individual vehicle, basically if your car is louder than it was when it left the factory then they deem it illegal (i live in scotland) the laws maybe different to england. i ment every night im out like going to the girlfriends or taking the granny for shopping. And jking whats its got to do with you anyway how i drive my car and where?! were not talking bout how or where i drive it.

Chrome faults just look tacky in my opinion and far from stunning. but I'm not going to start slagging your car off, it's your choice at the end of the day.
The general feeling I got from your post was you were aggrieved that you seemed to be getting victimised by the police. You state that you have illegally spaced your number plate and have a loud exhaust so what do you expect??
The police have a job to do at the end of the day. If you make your car stand out illegally then you will attract attention from them so don't come on here slagging them off for doing their job.

I find it increasingly annoying how the police get a bad reputation from "modified" car owners. rant over

i wasnt slagging off the fuzz, i take it your a police officer? i was basically trying to explain that i was having problems with my old car getting stopped regularly for the exaust and once for the number plate. they cut the plates off and left the car stranded. i mentioned it to see if anyone else has had this problem and would beable to help or advise what to do about it as it is going to court. Seen as how its a forum and im sure there plenty off aftermarket exhaust people who would like to know that it is illegal.

the vaults actually look okay on it, most chrome wheels look tacky but they look good on my car. Your car is smart ive got it as my screen saver mate, but apart from you wheels your car has kept the standard look and im guna do the same with the cupra but the sport got the cupra kit and bits and bobs because there not much under the bonnet that i could do...

Yes if you drive in a manner which attracts their attention then more fool you, especially knowing from previous pulls what they will pull you for again. As for exhaust note and prosecuting.... there are 1000's of car running non factory exhausts. Tints were a previous "pull" reason... guess they are looking for more excuses to pull people in non-std cars.
Easy prey.... unlike catching actual criminals...

its like cat and mouse with the fuzz when they find out they can get you for it you fooked! so i thought instead of lying down and taking it like the rest of the mugs i would get a lawyer involved to fight in my corner, now the police knowing what i am doing have stopped pulling me over and the last time i heard were in the local dealership looking for a standard 1600 sport which in my neck of the woods is rare like rocking horses shite! so they tested a toledo 2.0. And incase anyone jumps on the wagon and says im boasting about it im not im mearly just warning the rest who have aftermarket exhausts to watch out because thats there new jive....
