Guys, have any of you driven with the traction control switched off? are there anyissues doing this?

thinking about the sprint at inters and was thinking if this helped or not?

it came up as i had a bit of a duel with a TT quattro last night and realised how well his 4 wheel drive worked, on mine kept on having the traction control light flashing in 1st and 2nd:cry:

Turn it off mate at inters, good driver will be able to contolr the spin with left foot. When driving with a bit of spirit i turn it off as i find it cut in when goin round sharp corners causing the front to dip and cause the car to become unstable for a split second.

In a straight line, turn it off mate, youd be supprised at the difference.

I've only got a tdi 110 but my traction control is always off, as said before, upsets the balance of the car when pushing it and a good enough driver can control wheelspin in a straight line without it.

First thing I do when I get into my LCR is.... Turn it off!!! Feels much better when off, I find it holds the power back when it's on.

I leave it on when I'm just driving around, but any time I want to be a bit enthusiastic my hand drops to the button and off it goes. I do find it quite effective, and doesn't cut in too early, but it takes a second or so to switch back off, and I can get traction back quicker than that with some fancy footwork.

thanks for this, now i will have a few days of 'spirited driving' to see how well the car behaves.

have any of you guys had the eml light come on due to switching the traction control off?

Nope! Just a little yellow triangle light with a " ! " in it... Think it means "stick your foot down and enjoy mode"

i might have been misunderstood, i am asking if keeping the traction off will make the eml light come on at all, will it think something is not right?

Wish there was a way to leave it switched off permantly it's dangerous driving with it on that gets turned off before my seat belts on lol

I wish that when you turned it off, it would just change the button illumination orange (like when the heated screen is activated) and not bring up that annoying light on the speedo cluster.

I was surprised that the headlights bring a light up on the cluster, I thought I'd flicked the main beams or foglights on by accident!
