Trunk lock mechanism dead

Hey guys,

So my trunk stopped locking. My mechanic says he doesn’t have time for it. So I tried opening everything and suspect an electrical issue with the motor (because nothing happens when I try to close it with the keyless feature or the key but you hear it clicking – so I suppose the connection is working – but that metal hydraulic/electric piston in the white piece does nothing.

What’s confusing me is that small metal piece I found in the trunk and would say its from the assembly but I just don’t know.


Any help? Should I just order a new motor or do you think it’s something else?

I'm not sure what model Toledo you have, I have a mk2 and it doesn't have a keyless function for the trunk/boot. On mine I did have an issue with the boot mechanism/latch not locking or staying shut - I managed to open up the mechanism and found the remnants of a broken spring that should be holding the latch closed. Replaced the spring and all was good
