Turbo or limp mode???

Hi all!

Wierd problem here, every so often my car goes into limp mode under hard boost but a switch off and restart always cures it.

Drove to work this morning and the car was fine, just sluggish, drove a few min ago and was as if I started the engine and was already in limp mode!? Switch off and on the engine 2 times and the turbo came back into action!!

Any ideas???

You need to take logs so we can see whats happening. Take one of block 4, 8 and 11.

Have you done a vagcom?

Cleared all the codes exept the ABS one as i will replace the sensor before i clear!

The EGR code came straight back up but this is because i have deleted the N18 and rerouted pipework, the code coming up wont cause any issues will it!!??

Will get this info in a graph asap, just had a look around the engine bay and have found oil around the joint of a hose on the middle of the TIP, does that indicate a boost leak there!??

sorry to sound like a nerd, but i have a 1999 tdi 1.9 TDi alhambra in the caribbean, we have NO DEALER here again, were can i download the correct software ( vag.com) i think it is? and which is the corrrect cable to buy?
We have been having limp mode problems for the past 4 years, and its a pain. i would like to finally diagnose and fix.

Logs aren't that much use to us anyway as you really need to go through the revsfrom 1500 to 4500 at full throttle to get a good picture. Try and log group 2 3 and 11 all together in one log. Then send me your log file to [email protected]

Will try to but as soon as i hit hard boost she goes into limpmode :( Il go as high up the revs as she will go until hitting limp and log it on 2, 3 and 11 tomorrow.

Will also get the pipes off, clean and retighten and maybe replace clamps, it looks like when i had the turbo upgrade done that they made up an adaptor for the turbo to intake pipe which is where the oil is coming from!

Also hearing a funny sound on hard boost but cant explain it! Im hoping its an air leak and not somthing in the turbo breaking up!!!
