"let's do the timewarp..."

I think that's the same point as Fl@pper made, just above yours...

Also, if anyone (else) is thinking of polishing the cross-over/air feed pipe, it's made of steel not aluminium and if you're thinking about doing this mod and polishing the pipe, I'd think about getting a complete pipe made up. Heck I'd think about it even if you're not into polishing

Could also make the pipe longer at the intercooler end and put two swages in it to really secure THAT pipe.

if anyone has one / old / damaged

i'm game to make a pattern/stainless one

possible different size ? smaller maybe make slight pressure increase ?

looks easy enough - ooops said too much

back to the washing up :p

time delay form when ive read and wrote till you lot write!
Ive seen some custom pipes (polished) etc on ABD racing's site, id be intrested top find out how hard it will be to fabricate one, as long as we dont get a greedy fabricator! joke

Yeah, I thought the same, although I'd keep it the same size. I've offered to do Pete one already.

2x45' mandrel bends
1x90' mandrel bends
Two bits of straight (or one bit cut in half, your choice)
Some little tags for the mounting points.
1x25mm take of for DV,
1x8mm? take of for that other thing.

Easy to fabricate. Making it look neat, that's a different story...

blimey nice kit - take me a while to make one that good - nice kit

i was thinking more a basic style/diameter to test possible boost increase - doubt it's right but hey ya never know till you try

nice 1.8t manifold on there for $499.00 at 8-10 @ the wheels - mmmmm

im off to get some rather large ball bearings to fit in this tube ;)

what happend to the original pic side by side for the lcr as i cant find it! trying to see what the ends are like as so far all i can see is three main bends and an olive at the end, but cant see the turbo end!

Post 14 you mean?

Thats the one!
So really its just a very large chrome pipe with a few bends and a olive at each end.
Even shock EX fabriactor could make one of these fairly cheap as there is nothing to it just a few bends, as the main bit is the section we want to remove!

know it's a bit of an off topic but, this is what the TDI 150 turbo silencer looks like:

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7938

Will try replacing it with some SS tuing next time I have the piping off.

So you can't really see whether it causes a restriction or not. Wonder why the PD150 needs two silencers

From what I saw when I did mine, I'd cut yours like in the attachment. If it's anything like the 210/225 one the smaller diameter tube fits inside the larger diameter tube/cannister, then they're welded together. So if you grind through the cannister only and not the inner tube it should come apart. I was thinking this, 'cos if it all goes horribly wrong then you could easily weld it back up.

Measure the distance between the inlet and outlet first though...

Suppose the Questions I would have would be:

How picky are people with 'neatness' As a normal Bending machine may crease the pipe work, If this is the Case and people want smooth bends then MAndrels have to be bought in (assuming stainless)

Alu, Well Bends will have to be bought in regardless.

Lastly, What is this worth to people, i.e. for one in aint gonna be 50p to produce, obviously its gota be a cheap mod but how cheap??

Id say id pay a max of £200 for a good quality version?
Theres no point doing it if it looks naff so it would have to be good all though saying that i quite like the angle and welds you see on some custom pipes as it makes it look really sporty!

like this??

Picture(12).jpg

this is the pic of the Alu we use on the Ibiza, it uses 2.5" Mandrel Bends and you can see a couple of Welds but they are very neat. Ends are Swaged Also.

I reckon we could probably replicate this for less than that in 2.5" Alu (I think the LCR uses 1x90 deg bend and 1x45deg??)... If i had to guestimate would say £150 max. (Will ahve to double check the pipework myself)

We also now have the option of annodising very reasonably (assuming in batches)

Also if we could get a GB going it would bring cost down quite a bit as Bends are discounted on volume purchase (as we also buy them for our FMIC kits)

Spot on. There's a down turn at the top where it comes out of the turbo (so you might need 1x90' and 2x 45'), and there's two take-offs - one at 25mm (DV) and one at 8mm (ish for something else) up at the top, near the top weld on that photo. These take offs might add a bit more to the cost...

(Just trying to help)

take offs are same as Ibiza, 1x DV 1x N75, These cost very little, Its the Bends that Cost........ Would people be interested in Annodising Colours Also?

So If I can persuade Our Demo Cars (Matt or Rog) To get a Couple of Prototypes on, Lets get numbers for Group buy.......??? Just say 'I'

Thing with this i suppose is that it is a relativley cheap mod... and I '*think* it will fit an S3/TT225???

Yep, the pipes exactly the same on the S3/225. You should consider making it a little longer at the front where it goes into the first intercooler, perhaps putting two swages on it to make room for two clamps - this is one of the places that pipes blow off.

Or better still, have it so it can replace that pipe... and maybe the one on the other side as well...
