can be done. looking at about 4k. would not be quattro, but haldex 4wd lke a audi s3 tts, 4otion golf etc.

wow that is expensive... its to much for the trouble...
thanks anyway

Quattro and 4motion are one and the same thing by the way. (or sometimes anyway)

Depending which model of Audi the type of Quattro varies from full AWD to Haldex which shifts the power depending on conditions. The TT Quattro uses Haldex, I think this is very similar to the system SEAT uses on one or two models.

A good rule is if the engine is transverse it is 4motion and if it is longitudinal it's quattro. Ignore the badge that's down to marketing.

Sort of.

Audi use the term Quattro which can mean either the transverse or longitudinal systems. Both are Quattro but are totally different systems, both branded as Quattro. So to refer to the term Quattro can be one or the other.

The Haldex version of Quattro used in the TT, TTS, A3 and S3 is the Haldex one as mentioned and is the same system used it the VW 4motion, SEAT 4 system and Octavia 4x4.

true quattro is torsen based, haldex is just a 4wd system sourced from outside of the company. loads of different manufacturers use haldex. Rumours suggest that the TT RS will be using true quattro, the lastest gen quattro with torque vectoring

to be honest i rather get an S3 or a mk6 GTI than to spend 7000 euros and months at a body shop

well is not that possible.

the rear suspension from the R32 works but we dont have the space for the haldex system as we have the spare wheel taking that space, then we will have issues with the exhaust and the biggest issue is the gas tank

It's all just about money, though. Spend enough and you can have a spaceframed Mk2 with carbon bodywork, AWD and as much power as you want.

It's just that it's probably* not worth spending the sort of cash you'd need to do it.

* Definitely.
