Honestly Rob, I am lost with what you are saying. The car is fine and no reason why you shouldn't jump ship if that is what you fancy...BUT I thought your issue was with SEAT in general. Why don't you take a cupra out for a long test drive, drive it hard and then tell us what you think. It may well surprise you.

Issue with seat

Why are you lost, the last thing i want to do is get one of theses and tune it to 250-270hp affectively lossing the warrenty on the engine to find its a bag of spanners.

Ok so you could be unlucky and get a dodgy engine from any brand but i want to know its reletively bullet proof before i mess with it, and reading this is not what i want to see.

i agree. If there was an issue with the 1.4TSI then there would have been mass recalls. Plus if there was really that much issue, it would have won all those awards year in year out.

also consider if there were early faults on the engine. Then they would have done extensive R&D on the cause, effect and rectification over the last few years in order to ensure it didnt continue. lets be fair they wouldnt continue making a dodgy engine. not with their reputation. reputation is everything to VAG

Sorry...didn't pick up on the sarcasm lol. Well...good luck in your search for your next car. Hope you find whatever you are looking for...don't spend too much time researching it though because I am perfectly sure you will pull up problems and issues if you look hard enough on any car! You might never change your car lol

Theres always gonna be issues with engines of any brand but when you find a thread saying the manufacturer could bin the engine because of problems then it kind of stands out from the regular problems dont you think ????

think you getting a little mixed up with the Robs mate lol lol

so dont ever want to go through it again

hahahhahaa made me laugh reading this , i think you need to read my posts again.
have you ever had a problem with your car? have you had to deal with seat? well unless you answer yes to both of these then you are a dreamer.
i dont need threads to let seat know what i think of them , they already know.
check out the scirroco forums and see what problems are on there.
facts are there but you have to read to find them.

i just hope you dont go through what these other guys are going through.

I dont know why you think i'm having a go at you and I dont know why you think my reply is laughable. You clearly state your annoyance with Seat and the VAG group as a whole. I even said I dont blame you.. I just dont know why you have brought it in this thread.

I have had problems in the past yes. Ones which nearly resulted in legal action but I dont go on the forums of that car and rant at every opportunity I can.

Eh...I'm not sure VW where saying there were problems with the car...my understanding of the issue was that there was some talk about the engine being expensive to produce and that they are potentially investigating alternatives...as any self respecting manufacturer would be doing anyway! Maybe I am wrong and missed the point.

Sorry mate...lol...too many Robs in this thread lol. Anyway, my point still stands in general lol

well if they are talking about alternative engines purely as a cost saving measure then what's the issue. If these are expensive its more than likely to do with how they are being over engineered. All good IMO.

Many of the members on here are Petrol Heads and are therefore on many different forums. Being on those forums means you read an awful lot of gripes from owners of different vehicles.

The engine in the Ibiza Cupra is used in many different VAG vehicles and by undertaking a short google search (other search engines are available) you will find owners that are less than impressed with the reliability of the 1.4 engine over very short miles.

Given the above mentioned, freely available information I for one feel that there is no smoke without fire and therefore will comment where I please given the facts available.

I'm truly happy that your vehicle and many others are running well, however I fell very sorry for those whose vehicles have turned out to be complete lemons when SEAT/VAG group are doing sweet fanny adams about the issues because they obviously do not know what the problems/faults are.

As a member of this site and someone who has gone through the mill with SEAT in the past I feel it is the least I can do to give helpfull advice where possible which is why I have provided my list in the other thread.

Rob has also been through the same Mill with SEAT and does not have an axe to grind, he just wants his vehicle to run the way it should and be fixed correctly under warranty.

It is the least we should all expect given the money we pay for our vehicles.

Steve.

I agree with you whole hardheartedly, both of you have issues with Seat and their service and in ability to fix things properly along with the drawn out fault finding techniques. Thats fine, I hope to god I dont have to go through it. But that isn't the 1.4TSI's problem. ANY engine across the range could have a problem and you could stumble into the same pitfalls.

Why not start a new RELEVANT thread and we can all discuss it some more in there as this thread is about 1 news article in a questionable magazine.

I didnt say that either

The point im trying to make is if im gonna modify an engine then i loose warrenty on it so i want to know if its reletively bullet proof. So finding a thread thats says VW are gonna bin the ENGINE, then it kinda doesnt appeal to me buying that car.

I'm going to start a thread about the jolly Green Giant being found wandering drunk around Dublin,. Will you believe that too?

People still mod the Corsa VXR and that is known to have real issues. The ones with this car seem to be injector related and possibly 2 bad turbos.

If you frequent this section more often you'll realize its all light hearted and we get on well, so chill out a little Grandpa and take a joke..

What I would give to be 17 and naive again!

Guys, let's just be freinds?! In all honesty, I have searched all over and I cannot find ANYTHING that says or even hints at VW dropping this engine. Can someone show me a link where this was put???!!!

I asked for that about 2 pages ago...

There isn't one dude its in a magazine. That one which shows computer mock ups of cars on the front cover claiming them to be "exclusives".

Thats what i'm defending. People have very valid points on their quibles with seat etc but they are unrelated to this news.

RobH has been put of by this thread alone..

Your opinion is noted and fully ignored.:D
