Hi there im new to the forum ive recently bought a fr tdi and wondered what tyres are best for it ? There 205/45/16 ive seen toyo t 1 rs and kumho ku39 le sports but what do people recommend. Any good websites ? I am a memechanic so fitting is not an issue.

Thanks

Black circles/camskill/ on google seem to be the best.

I got some 17/45/225 (iirc) goodyear eagle f1 assy 2, cant really fault them. Got them for 87 each delivered with a £40 winter fuel voucher freebie!

Mines not a tdi though and ive heard great things about uniroyal

I went for slightly wider front tires for extra grip and better handling. Went for Goodyear eagle f1s in a 215/40/17 profile. Noticeably quiter than other tires

had the car since new & 106k miles. best tyres ive had were the BF goodrich g force profiler - hard to get now unfortunaltey but were superb for braking into wet/standing water corners with confidence.

id now recommend vredestein sportrac.

try camskill or tyreandgo

Thanks for the the advice I have ordered some ku39 le sports will let you know how I get on

I have an Ibiza cupra tdi and have just purchased and had fitted a complete set of Uniroyal Rainsport 2's today after hearing at least 90% positive feedback for them after looking on plenty of forums and reviews carried out on them.

Had Kumho Ku39's on the front and Avon ZZ3;s on the back before

Gizza i found the KU39'S wore down to the legal limit after about £15,000 miles of sensible driving and to be fair to them they gripped very well and performed quiet well in the wet. Not a bad tyre at all (I only payed £50 for them a tyre fitted and balanced) but for about £20 more a tyre you could of got something a lot better. Let us all know how you find them mate

Stay away from Mohawk tyres, got x3 falken ze914 Eco runs on and they are champion. Good thick quality side walled tyre unlike the remaining Mohawk tyre. Was tempted with rainsports 2 but got a better deal on camskill.

I've had 2 falken ze914 Eco fitted in march, and im surprised with the grip! excellent tires!

I've got Khumos on at the moment and going to get another front pair in a few days.

A friend has Uniroyals on his Skoda fabia and swears by them.

I've pretty much tried every tyre manufacturer since I had the car.

My favourites have been eagle f1's (they wear very quickly when you're not sensible), pzero nero (these came on the car when I brought it - great tyre a bit noisy on the road though), Yoko Parada (they just look great - disappointing in the wet), Toyos (wear ridiculously quick but handle amazingly) and finally my Khumo's (I was very sceptical about them but they perform great in the wet and dry a very good all rounder and the price doesn't reflect the quality at approx. 50 a corner.

Hope that helps

I really like the Rainsports 2's. :)

Drove in a heavy shower last week and after tailing behind a learner for ages in a line of cars i eventually became the lead car of the pack and had to overtake.

I was very wary of planting my foot in the rain with the P Zero's as it would result in much wheel slip throughout the pull but i did so in 3rd and only suffered slight slip and tracs at the beginning of the run and pulled well from that point on.

Impressed.

I have contisports on the front and pilot sports on the rear and its very very grippy, I did have budget tyres before which were maxxis and I got a load of under steer, expensive tyres all the way

Another vote on rainsports. Supernatural level of grip compared to the kumhos I had, quieter by far too. Only concern I had was that they were far from confidence inspiring until scrubbed and seem incredibly sensitive to pressure variation.
