Hi.

My tyres are coming to the end of there life so wanna sort some out ASAP.

The car came with some budget tyres on and they are bloody noisey!.

So am looking for some that offer some grip, And are pretty quite running. Looked at Eagle F1's and Prox's but am not sure about car tyres.

Also where is the cheapest.

Thanks in advance!.

Luke

Eagles are more pricey I just bought 4, you replacing the front 2 only? Had alot of people say I have bought very wisey and that they are excellent tyres thou last slightly longer.
Go on all the tyres websites see what you come up with for best price I got a good deal but only cos they did not have a fitted price and I bought 4 at once (I wouldn't normally not want them fitted but these are going on 4 wheel at the refurbers)

Proxes are definitely quieter than the pirellis and the cheapest premium tyre i could find. I've been impressed with them so far (2K miles).. But be warned, they aren't meant to last

I've got T1-R Proxies on my Ibiza (205/40/17) and I can't complain. Great grip in the wet and dry. They're quite quiet I think...kinda hard to tell with my exhaust n music on! Got them for a very good price too.

The car came with some wait for it Mondaz tyres even a picture of the track  and the just a joke, They just slide out and spin even with the road slightly damp.

How long do Eagle F1 and Proxes last for?. I dont drive hard and my driving is mostly town.

Luke

another vote for proxes here not tried anything else except the p-zeros the car came with which lasted 9kmiles

I replaced the Pirellis with Toyo Proxes 4...noticed they are much quieter. Am quite impressed with them so far also (5K). Havent let me down yet and a nice looking tread too.

i have 4 new Prox's on ma car and it is very noise but there good in the wet and in the dry but there a very soft rubber thats the only thing

The road noise is also doing my head in... Unfortunately i've got loads of tread left on the tyres - got the P-Zeros at the back and some crappy Nankangs [B)] at the front which were on the car when I got it.

Would a 215/40 R17 tyre help to reduce road noise at all? Maybe it would absorb some of the vibrations because the sidewall would be bigger. Just a thought. And obviously these are for a 17" wheel.

Or is the noise caused by the general unrefined suspension setup on the Ibiza? I'd love to sort it all out properly!

I've got some toyo prox t1-r on mine n didn't even think to observe if they were quieter or not. Didn't think tyres made much of a noise lol so didn't think you'd be able to tel a difference. I had some crappy budget ones on before. Not had chance to try them in the wet as it's not rained since I've had them, only got em last week n not had chance to drive it hard coz of my trackin bein out n my bent track rod end. Both of which wil be fixed this weekend. I'll report back next week lol.

Another vote for T1-R's here. Very very quiet. Dont think i'd buy Pirellis again

Be aware (if they still sell both types) that the Proxes T1-R offers much better wear rate than the softer T1-S.

Replaced the 2 standard pirelli P-Zero's on rear (Had done 14,000) last week, with Toyo proxes 4's, already changed the front to Toyo's. Much quieter than the pirelli's and handles better, IMO. I got the Proxe 4's from camskill for £57 each (Delivered), good value for money.

im running Eagle F1's and have no complaints with them, they are reasonably quiet and are pretty sticky for dry weather grip and work well in the wet, and they arent too expensive, shop around and you will get a good deal on them. Ive had mine on for a few thousand miles and they seem to be lasting good too.

I got my tyres from Camskill to very competitive rates and free delivery on tyres. ;)

had my f1's on for 12,000 miles of trampling down back roads to work everyday. still got plenty of tread left too. and i like to chuck it into the corners :p really grippy in the dry and the wet. really predictable handling :)

I found T1-Ss lasted as well as F1 GSR2s but haven't put the T1-Rs up against F1-GSR3s. Quite frankly there isn't much in them, they both grip well wet or dry both are quite quiet, the problem is you will find it hard to tell over the noise from the wing mirrors.
