Thanks for your input HarveyGTI, nice to know there are still people out there that are willing to just spout out any old crap without finding out the full story first!
First of all Ultramap are authorised
dealers of Chippeduk remaps and we work as mobile tuners. We are serious about what we do and are not "cowboys". We don't put cars on the rollers because we don't have a mobile rolling road and do not need one for our remaps. Our customers are made aware of this and in general we get very good results. As folks know there are many levels of tuning and we are remapping cars at the level below live mapping which is what Harvey is talking about, but even in that case, if there is potentially a weak component or a car that has problems, the remap will only exaggerate it and not fix it.
We have been in communication with W88DSY and we are trying to resolve the issue. The DV was changed because it is a known weak spot on these cars and other 1.8T units that more often than not cause early boost pressure release negating some of the remaps efforts. You don't need diagnostics to tell you that when experience and widespread recorded findings point this way. How many LC & LCR owners on this site have forge DV's? We have told W88DSY to also check/replace the spark plugs and check the coil packs too because again they are weak points of the 1.8t's make up and can result in flatspots as experienced.
We are further hindered by the fact that we are 150 miles away from where the car is based (cumbria) so its not like we can spend time on it and get to the bottom of the
problem. We have offered to have W88DSY's car down at our HQ to get it on the RR so that we can get some runs and make adjustments and carry out full diagnostics to see if there is an underlying
problem with the car but we have been told that this is not possible and that the car cant make it down here. I have then read on this thread that W88DSY is asking about a RR in Bedford so I am left wondering why can't he get to Birmingham which is kind of on the way to Bedford?
I have also been reading the thread on this forum regarding turbo surge which could potentially be the
problem with W88DSY's car as it has the same symptons. Forum members cars affected by this are in all kinds of format. Some are remapped by Revo(amongst others), some are modded to the hilt while some are totally standard. Some have tried replacing all kinds of parts suggested and related but ALL have failed to sort out the
problem which manifests in strange boost and flat spot characteristicsaround the 3k mark under full and part load. See here.

We are continuing to work with W88DSY to try and get to the bottom of it all but there is a possibility that the
problem has always been there and that the remap just made it clear to feel.
As enthusiastic vehicle tuners we also do our research and try to do the best job we can but sometimes it seems this is not good enough to some.
