right here's another one.....probably already been answered, apologies if so!

righto, 58 plate FR tdi, dpf removed remapped etc, good history, and injectors replaced earlier this year, and got a belter of a deal (i used to work with the sales manager) all the toys (except reverse sensors. not that i really need them, just seems weird that its got everything else) including the ipod dock under the driver's seat.

i'm not an apple fanboy, never have been. got nothing against them, just prefer android. ive got the new htc one, and managed to find a lead online that goes from micro usb to female apple plug. plugged it in, nothing. which i found weird, surely the car will just read it as a mass storage device and look for music???

apparently not.

so, dug out the handbrake's (she'll kill me if she reads this) ipod nano, just to see if it would work. it hadn't been used for a good while, as she got an iphone 4, then recently upgraded to a galaxy s4, so was totally dead. the manual says that it should charge as soon as it's plugged in, but nothing. so, do i need to charge it first before use? or does the dock not support charging? saw another thread on here, and the dude said he had to use an adaptor. it doesn't mention this anywhere in the manuals, read them all cover to cover last night.

any help would be appreciated..........

In the same boat have the boat but cannot for the life of me work out how to use it. Read the manuel but it's doesnt work. Will be looking at this closely.

cant help u there amigo i don't have anything under my driver seat there a aux port on the centre console and i cant remember if there's usb ports i think there's some on the car pretty sure its in the glove box i never use them so i would need to go look to be sure however i do use a 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack cable in the aux port and the head fone jack on the htc one and its works with no drama only down side u need to use the htc to select the songs, pause, play etc the steering wheel controls dont work except for the volume

so long story short if your ipod docks goosed use the aux port ;)

think when it came out the factory you got the aux in OR the ipod dock, depending on which box was ticked. no connections in the glove box, again think it was an either/or idea. i'll footer about with it some more tomorrow.........

hmm maybe i am getting the car mixed up with the van i will look tomorrow if i remember and see if there is any usb ports when u say you have under seat dock i assume it is would be behind the flap under the drivers seat ?? mines is a fixed panel there's a good hidey hole under the passenger set flap incase u hadn't noticed yet .... unlikely though if you are anything like me you where all over the car as soon as it was on the drive way lol

I found an iPod dock under my drivers seat but no 3.5mm jack. Where are these usually placed?

center console mate right behind the TCS and lock/unlock buttons its labeled AUX as unsheenashashin said he has no aux port either it might have been a one or the other option at manufacture

yeah, the one under the passenger seat is hers, for........woman stuff. i dunno.

i went over it top to bottom before i test drove it mate! the connection is in the wee box under the driver's seat.

B5NGV - again, i think if you've got the ipod dock or usb connection, you won't have an AUX in, unless your car is a facelift (late 58 plate onwards) model. if it is, there should be a usb and aux connection in the centre console, behind two sliding covers. you can tell if it's a facelift because it should have an FR badge on the front bumper, next to reg plate, sharper more angulay rear lights, and it'll have the CR engine, as opposed to the PD unit.

hope this helps.

It was an either/or job. You either got the iPod or you got the USB/aux plugs.

Might be worth double checking the dock as mine also didn't work and have been told that it has some pins broken from someone forcing something in.

I believe the docks are a standard vw/Audi part that you can pick up off ebay for fairly cheap. I just got one for £30 from a tt...

haha the very fact he has a leon and is on the forum he will know what a facelift looks like scotty boy :p

So, charged the iPod, plugged it in, worked a charm.

Bugger to insert though, I removed the plastic insert, put the iPod in then re inserted the plastic bit.

Let's see if it charges now!

Might sound silly but how exactly did you do it. Ie did did have to plug iPod into dock before turning radio on or? Also did the music just start or did you have to press play on the iPod before you plugged it in?do you change the song via stereo or iPod? Thanks dude

First off, I made sure ipod was on, and in the 'all songs' folder.

Ignition off, moved seat all way back (for headroom, I'm well over 6 foot tall) and removed plastic insert for nano. Plugged nano in, then re-insert plastic nano surround.

Ignition on, let phone pair up, then select CD. Press CD again, display should show CDC, and that was it. It reads the iPod just like a new CD has been inserted. I put it on random, skipped tracks via steering wheel controls.

Hope this helps bud.
