When I got my car remapped I was told my MAF was shot although the car was running fine. Ive just unplugged my MAF and took it for a drive and there was no difference in driving it, does this mean it is knackard

many people think that unplugging the maf means the car will run significantly slower.
In my experience its not easy to detect the difference. even more so if the maf was reading a little low.

As i understand it the car will likely run a little richer with the maf unplugged, so its not advised longer term.

A couple of weeks back i had the revo stage 2 linear put on my car at the time Revo HQ said my maf wasn't quite right i also had a timing pull issue (not related to maf) So i left Revo annoyed that it wasn't running right.

The following week i dropped it off at Bills (badger5) for him to diagnose my issues, he put it on his dyno and done some logs and he found that the maf was under reading by 40g/s which equals around 50bhp. After picking it up i bought a new maf and the car felt instantly better and pulled better than it did.

Before all this happened i also disconnected the maf and i felt no difference what so ever. As mentioned you need to run some logs with Vagcom.

I might be talking out my arse and correct me if I'm wrong but I remember someone saying to me once that if you have a faulty sensor it edits the learned values of the ecu so when you unplug it it reverts to them

I know on the cars I work on anytime we have a faulty sensor that affects the car running we have to erase the learnt values and reset the throttle sensor aswell that's right from our technical team

I'm not sure if it's fact or just a safety measure but it might be the reason why nothing changed when you unplugged it?

If you log it what readings should you get! And how do you do logs! ??

If your running a stage 1 map you should get maf readings of 200g/s plus. To do logs you'll need vagcom cable and software and I think you need to log channel 003 to get maf readings. I think there are guides on how to log on the ross tech website.
