unsure on what discs and pads

so finally got myself some TT calipers and carriers...for quite cheap

have seen on ebay a company selling the whole kit..discs/pads/calipers and carriers for £245...but i thought this was a tad expesnive so I bought second hand calipers and carriers for £90..

but I only need to get discs and pads...not looking at breaking the bank but was hoping for a bit of advice on which ones are reasonable both price and performance wise.

Depending how worn they are bur generally new discs new pads tbh matey

From personal experience on the old track fiesta I'd say stay away from stay away from ebc! Over rated crap and they was warped after two months. Got black diamonds on it now they are much better and no warpage

cheers do you have the 312mm set up...

what size discs do i need 312mm x...?

might just go for the OEM stuff to start with as dont wanna spend a shed load

yeah i got TT calipers and carriers...im going to wire brush them and then paint them...prob boring red as it matches other bits and bobs on my car...

im trying to get discs and pads for as cheap as poss..as funds are tight at the moment...think i may go for the mintex TT pads and discs..

otherwise it looks like i may have been better off buying the £235 set on ebay for everything

The way I see it is.... my discs and pads will need replacing soon anyway (probably at the next service) so if I invest in the calipers now and refurb them then its no extra cost when I finally buy discs and pads!

Being a cynical ******* that I am, I thought that maybe the Skoda discs and pads (for the same 312mm brakes) might be cheaper? Have a look. Try ebay or a local motor factors and compare prices!

your spot on mike...

my car is having its 30k service soon, so not sure on current state of the discs or pads...but like you said they will need replacing at some point..

i will give euro car parts a bell now...but 85 quid for mintex pads and discs seems a good deal..means total cost for the kit would be sub £180

I've used Pagid pads on my old Octavia from Euro Car Parts, IMO they're very good for the money. They have an anti-corrosion coating on the discs which make them look nice behind the alloys. As far as I'm aware you don't get that coating with Mintex.

I'm probably going to be putting Pagid discs and pads on my Ibiza within the next 5k or so.

Sorry, meant to say I used Pagid discs and pads! But not the 312mm ones, just standard TDI size (can't remember the figure).

I imagine that if you have TT calipers and carriers, you'll be asking for TT pads and discs.

yep..i need 312mm discs so think i may get mintex ones
