Hi ,

I was browsing around some threads and saw a screenshot of someone's infotainment system software versions and saw there was a newer maps dB than mine had ( see screenshot) so j went to

Downloaded all Europe and followed the very vague instructions here
https://www.seat.com/owners/my-seat/navigation/resolve-doubts/how-to-update-navi-system.html

I tried with a USB pen drive ( formatted to exfat) and a usb hard drive (also exfat) with both the .tar file In the root and extracted in the root but I can't seem to get it to update, I have tried update in the settings and also tried update in the engineering menu but neither actually do anything

Anyone have a clue ?

Thanks in advance

I think it updates them automatically, over the air. Not sure why yours hasn't.

I have an issue with the data connection (which I'm taking to the dealers for) so I'm guessing that's why I haven't had OTA

That's the software version, I have the same problem, there isn't a way I know of to update the software to a newer version.

The map version should be below that it's called "navigation database" the first number is the year second one month. The latest(as of today) I believe to be is 21.3 -> March 2021, the maps update automatically, I haven't needed to do a manual update

Ok so my software come up so i click update waiting for at least 20 minutes and nothing happened just saying updating possible freeze

It does that, would you say the bar stopped about 3/4 of the way.

Lots of people have experienced the same theres a whole thread on it "software update stuck"(or something along those lines)

I don't think anyone has found a "fix", you can try hard reseting by touching the power button for 10+ seconds until you see the seat logo

The update doesn't change the software number, I've had several updates where I have seen a change and the number hasn't changed

The fix is to wait, it took several hours to update and during most of the time the progress bar were at ca 70%

The Seat site said wait a couple of days if doing it online.... read that the other day.

I nag people about sticking to Fat32 on the mib2 high.

Attached is the VW instructions although they don't mention Fat32... that covers last year serial release. May have omitted it thou.

Offline in the car download can be found here:

What I don't think we know is whether if you dont take out a map update contract via connected services whether you will be able to upload via usb. E.g.. unlimited Mapcare or whether they have deemed you can't. Seat have been funny about trying to monetize maps verses VW and Skoda where it's been free for mib2.

Perhaps someone can tell me that when a contract gets put in front of them when the one year introduction is over and how it works out if you dont take it.

21.3 is also the latest version for me.
Shouldn't there be an new version available? It's the 6th month already...

Could be the month they are signed off for release then go into testing and production. eg. the master database would be March. They use something similar on mib2 releases, the date of them being locked then into production alternatively they haven't been released. You will see if they keep incrementing in months or jump to catch up. Basically they come from Here Maps then get reworked into the production release.

Theres normally a new one every month, I've had from memory 20.7, 20.9, 20.11, 21.1, 21.2 and 21.3,

Perhaps they were busy getting the mib2 one out ;).

Wonder if they come off the same production run for the whole of the VAG group or whether Seat press a button and produce their own release. (grinding teeth about mib2 high).

There was previously a company that prepared the VAG map material could be them who are the bottleneck if they are supporting Mib2 as well... we don't want to say that too loud thou.

So managed to update my map funny think is you don't get any message when is done (n) Have also noticed the navigation starting a much slower now

You know what they say... every silver lining has a cloud ;)

Perhaps it's still indexing them or something. They use a Geo database index to pull component parts up so you wouldn't expect it to run more slowly unless the firmware changed in the process or they got a less efficient index on this.

Are you the same KoNG as the one that prepared map uploads for pre mib units or a different one ?. Probably need that expertise on mib2 when it gets finally pulled turning mib3 into mib2 high ?. We will need a bright spark.

Kong would have downloaded it to a USB and put it in and kicked it off.

It's that process I've read is slow but gets there in the end. Like a couple of days. It's a bulk map update. Those which are the mute point of what happens if you dont take up a contract after the first year. The update file is in the link above:

VW instructions on what to do with it. Will be the same process.... keep clear of Mac's thou else you will be on CleanMydrive I expect prior to putting it in. That's there in the notes as well ?.

Alternatively you just keep taking over the air ones.

According to the manual:

You also have the option of updating the navigation data online.
Navigation data for frequently traveled regions are automatically updated in the background if there is an internet connection and valid privacy setting (privacy settings).

So this means if you drive the car for the first time in a country you'll have old map data?

Hopefully they have thought of that. The download is very fragmented as I recall so they probably load in those fragments as you travel over the air. I'd have to go back upstairs and look but I concluded it was much more fragmented than the five zones of mib2 standard so they would autoload. Drive quick and you could beat it ?. That's where the bulk upload comes. If you got poor 4G at home the bulk upload would be handy. I've assumed this is fully supported on UK vehicles. Seat give the upload link. Good to know how people get on with it and whether it's maintained if you dont sign up for future chargeable services.
