Ok as the title suggests im seriously thinking about upgrading my standard suspension on my tdi 90 leon.. I have apex springs in at the min and they dont give me the desired ride height and handling i would like. I was thinking coilovers for the adjustability, but im a noob when it comes to suspension. Money is no real option but i dont want to spend a fortune on the car as its only to get a nice ride height (please dont yawn, its my first car and would love it to be sitting perfect) and improved handling. The roads are bad enough in Ireland and i dont really want to be looking for a new sump if you know what i mean, as ive heard plenty of times about people bursting sumps on these ridiculous roads.
Please give some advice/reccomendations for me because as i said im new to this.
Cheers

hi mate i too am new to modding my seat diesel as have only owned it a couple of months now, i have lowered mine with a budget set of coilovers from a company on ebay for £150 , they came from belgium but on the uk site, the sellers name is tuningleader, and am so far well happy with the result was a bit unsure as they was so cheep but no real problems , other than if you go too low. then you need to get shorter droplinks as the antiroll bar rubbs the drive shaft, but you will get this problem with any low set up on your car no matter what suspension you choose.

Cheers for the reply, now i know im not the only one thats completly new to the whole thing, yeah thought about cheaper coilovers as the other makes (vmaxx etc) are far too expensive for first car.. Main reason i want them is so that i can get the ride height exact so i can have a happy medium between low ride height and daily useability. How low have you got your coilovers set to if you dont mind me asking? Any sump problems?

How about the JOM springs and shocks kit?...

Damian @ DPM

They are a good price but the only problem is that there fixed height and 40mm springs, i actually have 60mm springs in the car and its still sitting pretty high... Another question for everyone, are these coilovers a pig to fit? I fitted the lowering springs in my own car and that was tricky enought espicially the front ones... [:@]

if you managed to fit the springs on your car you will be able to fit the coilovers not much difference, i have gone as low as my arb will allow me to, ocasionally the undertray touches the camber of the road, the day i rip the sump off is the day i start to worry about it being to low, :D
