I have just come from an evo to a cupra remapped to 210bhp. question i have is all you guys that have uprated to 240-50+ how on earth do you manage to put that power down?
When i put my foot down the tcs kicks in or the wheels just spin, so i would assume more power you are just going to get more wheelspin and tcs cuts, so my question is should i bother from where it is now?

same with what i think coming from a subaru, it just takes time getting used to as in a sccob or evo you never get that problem which i really miss. lol

HaHa, now YOU have to control the car not the car control you, lol

Not that easy eh, not just press and go anymore.
It's very different to a 4 wheel drive, it'll be like learning to drive again.
Well worth it when you walk past 4 wheel drive cars knowing your a better driver in a more difficult to drive car.

Superb post :D

lol, funny how everybody has a pop at evo/scoob drivers at any chance they get:cartman:

quality post by JS though;) i hope to have an Evo one day so i'll be sat over hear on the fence if anybody wats me:whistle:

i'd maybe suggest looking at tyres and anti roll bars to get the powerr down better;)

yeh they always have a pop but the end of the day a cars a car and its still gotta be driven. and i no i preffered driving the scooby over the leon, but standard the leon is actually very impressive in the the twisties but off the line..... i dont even bother. lol

Don't get me wrong, Evo's are amazing cars but the above is true. If you want to go fast press the accelerator, if you want to stop hit the brakes, if you want to go round a bend turn the steering wheel. The ECU and multiple diffs will take care of everything else!!

I quite agree.

there is no way that that the evo drives a driver, took some time to learn to control a 4 second car let me tell you. though in the higher gears the cupra has better torque levels at lower rpm. and i am impressed the way it gets it up to speed without really noticing it.
i do have a question on the pull though, it it me or if you have your foot semi down there is a very quick hesitant moment at approx 2800-3000rpm before the car really takes off? prob me just not used to though im not sure.

not sure to be honest but i know they are pants! had eagle f1's on the evo, a good tyre. have rs4 18's on as well, thinking of knocking 17's on as it must pull better i would have thought.

i have michelin pilot sports and i think they are the dogs rugby balls, best tyres i ever had on any of my cars.
i dont rate pirellis at all.

im using dunlop sport 9000's and they are brilliant, having said about Evo's i was going to get an Evo 6 but it felt to lumpy from driving the LCR. Scooby not bad IF it were ethier and RB320 or a P1

A poly dog-bone bush will stop about 85% of your wheelspin. If you want to go the whole hog, fit an LSD.

Now isn't it nice driving a quick car that doesn't lose half of its power in an effort to turn the transmission components? ;)

i disagree to loosing half the power! even if that was true it would still walk all over my leon.

You'll never beat a jap 4WD turbo from a standing start, rolling start is a very different story.

A tuned Leon 1.8T is far lighter, 20 times better build quality, buckets more torque, a much more flexible engine, less than half the transmission loss of an Impreza/Legacy turbo, doesn't have horrendous cold start piston slap and doesn't need a bottom end rebuild every 80k miles.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and the repair bills, won't be going back. :D

Fair enough it was a bit of a beast but
Take a 325 BHP FWD Leon add about 1-2 years onto how long it took you to master the EVO then you get an idea of how long it takes you to be able to drive a fast FWD car.
I'm not slagging your driving off, I'm just trying to make you realise that a FWD car is a very different beast.
An EVO is a computer controlled car, no purists will own one because you are not controlling the car 100%, maybe only 30%.
