I think you'd be better off with the bestofferbuy lead, I don't think that first lead you found will work with the newer cars. Personally I don't like the handheld readers, but they are convenient if you don't have a laptop.

Thanks mate thats what I was thinking....also wher is the port to plug the lead into the car??
I've looked under the stering wheel area and i cant find anything that clips off so I can plug in....anyone have a pic??

yeah i've got the bestofferbuy cable and works fine on an '04 audi a3 3.2 v6 and '05 leon cupra r 225.

You might get lucky, but around that time they did change the engine management over to the newer type. I can't remember exactly, but if I were you I'd spend the little extra on the bestofferbuy cable. That way at least you'll be able to continue use it when you go for your next car.

Ok, i will get that one.

Can you give me some more info on what VAGCOM is exactly, im still new to all this, and its all so confusing!!

www.ross-tech.com has all you need. But in short, if your engine management light comes on, it's cheaper to get one of these leads and diagnose it yourself than it is to take it to the dealers. With a dealer charging around £40 just to check the fault codes, this will pay for itself the first time you use it.

So basically just a diagnostics tool?

I cant find one on bestbuyoffer or whatever site it is :S
