You might find you won't get much in the way of sympathy mate, the general feeling may well be one of "you bought a cheap cable and it doesn't work...tough"

what is the problem?

PS. you might have been better posting this in the Vag-Com section, people browsing there might be able to help you more.

What doesn't work? Have you installed the drivers, then plugged in the lead? Then checked in device manager which com port the lead is assigned to. Then in vag-com gone to options and selected the correct port and clicked test?

I tried different versions of the software, Including vag-tacho with windows 7 and couldnt get any of them to work.

If you go in the vag-com section in here you will find most people have problems with windows 7 and vista

With your cable plugged in Go to start menu type device manager in the search bar and hit enter now go to ports, com & lpt. Now open that and see what com port your lead is showing up as. Let us know what it says.

Do they dissapear if you remove the lead? If they do then replug it in and update the drivers but tell it to use the ones from the cd you got with the lead.
