I was disappointed not to get a question on these in my APTT exam, they should be perfect for a fast road 1.8t or 2t. Petrol engines are also less sooty so they won't gunk up the same way they do on some of the Drev lumps. I'm guessing the Porsche ones are ceramic blades or at least have a ceramic thermal barrier coating.
The older VNT turbos used a single flap at the inlet throat that simply constricted the flow of exhaust gas into the turbo accelerating it and effectively altering the turbo's A/R ratio. These aren't anything like as cool as Multivane units.
