interesting read , honda's vtec powered engine are good for outright power but shite for torque its so annoying having to keep gearong down to pull away, the best compromise i've seen is a mate that put a 2.2 stroker kit on his s2000, increased peak torque by 60ft/lbs, but for me forced induction wins everytime when in comes smaller cc engines

You're missing the point :) The whole point of it is that when you go flat out in 1st and change to 2nd, you're right back in VTEC and so it goes on through all the gears. It's good fun changing gears, we all like driving, right ;)

Getting any car to be significantly quicker ( i.e. more difference than a car length to 60mph from a standstill) costs a lot of money, whether it be turbo or NA.

Far as i'm concerned you're all HOMOS because you're roof doesn't fold

Here's a V-Tec conversion on a on-honda engine I found earlier:

I understand it's going to take full commitment's, i understand that what I'm thinking of doing is not going to be easy. You wouldn't get this from any other guy, I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling I should modify my Leon to be different, i guess i got to make you understand when you see my bhp figures afterwards.

What cars did those come in.

It's not pissing on my parade. I'm impressed. I know there are a few engines that match the torque output. But in general, Honda engines make decent torque.
The problem is, people compare a 160bhp 1.6 vtec to things like redtops, the 2.0 16valve in ibizas, golfs etc, because the power output is similar, then complain how low the torque is.

Instead of praising the Honda for making a lot more power per cc, they slate it for not making the torque of a bigger cc engine.

I also think vtec has it's place. Unfortunately for me (and I've owned a load of hondas) that the ep3 is where it all started to go wrong. The b16/b18 engines are a couple of the best engines available for their time.

They come in rare Jap import versions, N15 pulsars IIRC which are like an Almera. Some people bolt the heads to sr20det for mental variable timing turboed engines.

The fact that Honda have long been getting 100bhp per litre without the use of forced induction and even their 20 year old cars are still up to scratch today performance wise speaks volumes.

I used to have a sunny gti with the sr20de and have had an almera gti and primera gt with the same engine and it's a phenomenal engine.

So id quite like a go in one of those. But I don't really think this thread is the place for sensible discussion

talking about japs, has anybody raced a integra typer r dc2, seen a stage 1 LCR race a ITR with just a straight through exhaust, the LCR lost on take off(expected) but even into third + it couldnt gain on it, it was an even race. is it due to the integras being much lighter

I can't seem to find anywhere that does Vtec refills locally. I have heard that you can use the medical grade stuff the NHS use? I could possibly get hold of a some of that if anyone knows it is the same stuff?
