Found on UK-Polos.net:

On the 15/12/03 VW issued a technical bulletin to all VW dealers stating that they are currently 'aware' of the complaints of suspension creaks from new Polo owners and that VAG Germany are working on a replacement kit as we speak. These 'kits' are expected to be ready for late January/early Febuary 2004 and are of course covered under VW warranty.

It is not yet known if these bushes are going to be issued as a recall, workshop campaign (fitted as cars come in for service/repair etc) or replaced when the noise is noted by owners.
Dealers have been instructed NOT to carry out any warranty work on suspension if the complaint is either creaking or knocking noises. Therefore if you book your car in for the creaks don't expect anything to be done about it until the kits are availiable.

More updates to come as we get them.

Many thanks,

The UK-POLOS.NET forum.

...So one day SEAT will follow suit!

the only creaking I remember is when using the brakes while going backwards down a slope (a horrid vibrating/moaning type creak), I assume that actually comes from the brakes though?

Yup, that seems to be a VAG 'feature' - does it on all 3 of ours

Less of a creaking, more of a squeaking though :p

Yup thats a common problem across the VAG range. Audi had the same problem on the A3. They issued a bulletin and a damper weight was fitted to the rear brake caliper to stop the noise.

I'm guessing they assumed dealers could fob off the lesser brands.

I have the same problem and im trying to get the part numbers of the damper kits for the A3. They should fit the Ibiza/Fabia so when I've found em i'll let you lot know.

They are quite easy to fit, the are just a rubber donut bush that bolts onto the caliper around the handbrake linkage.

Going back to the creaky front suspension - anyone know which bushes are causing the noise ?

Not exactly creaking, more a muted crunching kida noise fom the rear, noticible more on speedbumps...

Hmmm....

Glad to see you Ibiza peeps might have things sorted though!! :)

My Córdoba's rear suspension creaks when it's colder (like when it's below zero). I don't hear anything in the summer but will have to complain about it next winter especially if they have a fix for it by then.

BTW, some of the sigs here are siiiick! :-o Like, the sig makes your posts 3 times longer!

Edit: Well, I don't seem to be much better, either. Why is the font so big now??

Edit #2: OK, better now.

YIP, had my ARB bushes replaced under warranty 2 months ago, and that was only after 4 trips to the dealers to try and trace it and trying things like greasing every joint they could see. It was well documented on here, and it only appeared when the car was warmed up, extremely noticable on low speed sleeping policemen and fast (50+) undulating B roads.

Its characteristics for my car was that it was much lounder in the de-compression of the front of the car, so when it was compressed in a dip in the road there was less to hear but when it sprung back up it sounded like the end of a sheet of metal being rubbed with a rough file.

It's on
HERE if you want to hear it going over a sleeping policeman.

It still happens very occasionally, so i'm not convinced that it wont come back again, but at least now people arent staring at me thinking the car a heap.

Ah! So I'm not alone! I noticed my Ibiza's suspension creaking over ondulations at low speeds a few weeks after taking delivery. It went back to the dealership to have the problem looked at, though their seemingly clueless solution was to drop and re-fit the rear suspension, which cured the problem for a week before it gradually reappeared again. I asked again for noise to be examined at the car's one-year service, at a different dealership, who greased the rear suspension bushes under warranty, which has done sweet F.A. to cure the problem. So, for the time being, it seems, I have little option but to put up with it, irritating though it is. Please keep me informed of any publications/info from Seat regarding this problem, as I'm keen to see, or rather hear, the back of it!

Ditto, the old grease 'em up trick did sweet F.A. for us as well. We've never owned such noisy cars, LCR and Beeza could do sound offs for rattles and squeaks.
Beeza has got better with dirt and age, but maybe we're just getting used to it. My missus says my @r$e squeaks too much. Anyone got a uprated bush for that?

Does anyone know whether the kits are out? Mine's a 1.2 had it for 4 years now and got these creaking noises over (speed bumps mostly) on the passenger's side. It's quite loud and embarrassing especially when people are around. Thanks ;)
