But as far as I know seat will get everyone's records through the dvla and then contact us

Yep the Leon had been to dungannon 3 times while under warranty for a faulty DMF,they said it was fine all the time,and it wasn't covered under the warranty (42,000 miles)
I got fed up and took it to my mechanic and got it changed,which confirmed it was completly done

I agree. Rather get troque tronix or NI remapping to remap my car instead of the stealers.Will have to wait and see but dont fancy having to keep running to dealers when the car is driving fine and there is a good chance they will mess it up

The thing with all this is that although our cars may be "adjusted" at VW's expense - what exactly does that cover? My fuel to and from the dealer, my time, any time off work I need to get the car seen, a courtesy car? I can't help but feel we're going to lose out in one way or another because of this, even if it's relatively minor.
Hmm, ok just had a call from "SEAT" about my enquiry form (the VIN one), thing is the guy wanted the first line of my address and postcode followed by reg no. for confirmation it was me. Fair enough. But then he said I'm not down as the registered owner so could I email a copy of my V5 to him at "[email protected]". Does this sound legit?
I remember reading about test drives and not letting people scan or photograph your V5, I'm not sure how else anyone would know to call me on this issue but it just set alarm bells ringing a bit...

That sounds super dodgy to me. You could always call the dvla to confirm you are the owner but I would definitely not be sending copies of the V5 to anyone.
Right, called DVLA, I'm the registered owner, called SEAT UK and apparently they have the original garage as the owner but say the call and caller are legit... Hmm, I guess it's ok then, maybe I'll just blank out some of the big numbers on the V5!
Haha love your thinking..........pity it's not SEAT endorsed.....anyone on here that might be able to have a quiet word with them.

Just had a thought, I'm no mechanic but the only way I can see a engine that wasn't able to past the required standards with out a defeat device fitted to suddenly start being able to meet them is to enable the defeat device to be constantly switched on as opposed to only being active under test conditions.
My 60 reg 143 ST is affected by having the EA189 engine.
Not sure exactly how the defeat routine (it's not a device as it's part of the ECU firmware) works, but likely underfuel when rear wheels are stationary to lean up the mixture.
ECUs are simply pulling in data from sensors - wheel speed, engine load, throttle position, manifold vacuum, fuel temperature, pressure etc. etc. and enables each injector to fire for x duration and pressure at z time, so putting in the logic of an anomaly (rear wheels stationary) and underfueling would not be that hard to do...
I have a bluefin map on my Exeo (very pleased with it) and have the option to remove it via the handset.
The question I do have, I guess for bluefin, is will the map still apply or will I have to buy a new one?
I.e take the bluefin map off, reverting to standard, then try and re-apply the bluefin, but the map removed will no longer be the same so might trigger a checksum error and not re-apply the map - dang.
I feel a mail to Bluefin customer services coming on.
